    Olympics

By request, a thread of its own over here...

Horrible crash in women's cycling race today. Was watching it live as the little Dutch girl was leading an American and they were hitting speeds of 50mph, then, ouch!

    Re: Olympics

I watch a lot of cycling, and this was one of the worst wipeouts I have ever seen. No reports, yet, on her condition. But honestly I, and many others watching, feared she had broken her neck.

The American rider, Abbott, almost pulled it off, leading to the 200 meter mark and was passed by three riders who had been working together. Heartbreaking ending. But, more importantly, hope that Dutch rider recovers from her nasty spill. I'd say she is very lucky it wasn't worse.

    Re: Olympics

So far, we have 12 medals.

    3 gold: 1 shooting, 2 swimming
    5 silver: 1 archery, 1 fencing, 3 swimming
    4 bronze: 1 shooting, 3 swimming

I watched the fencing competition today and saw a great comeback by Massialas against an Italian in the quarterfinals. It was amazing. Down 7-13 and comes back to win 15-14. I had no idea what was going on, but it was fun. However, he would end up finishing with a silver against another Italian. I think Massialas is/was one of the top-ranked in the world. He can still get a gold in the team event.

Also, the Williams sisters are out of doubles competition. Venus is also out of singles. Serena won her Round 1 match and faces France next.

    I like me.

    It's a mockery.

The biggest YAWN are those who have no interest in a topic, but feel compelled to bore us with their "yawns."

Of course you read all of my threads. I'm like E.F. Hutton....

On the other hand, I can't recall reading any of your postings. Except these recent posts here. Which will soon be forgotten too.

Just my opinion, but it does seem like Americans care much less about the Olympics than they did in years past.
