Years went by without change at schools like Tech, ULM, Grambling and Northwestern State.

Within the past two weeks, Tech and ULM, two of the largest colleges in north Louisiana Tech, continued to up the ante. ULM debuted a 11,750-square foot, $4.1 million dollar field house as the first new athletic building on campus since 1983. A week later, Tech unveiled plans for $18.6 million worth of upgrades to Joe Aillet Stadium, the second major upgrade within the past year after the school opened the $22 million Davison Athletics complex in 2015.

NSU upset Tech in Ruston in 2014, while Grambling played for the Southwestern Athletic Conference title in 2015.

So, Northwestern State wants a new basketball arena and wants the state to pay for it!!!

you will start to see power folks from lsu put a stop to talk like that.....with lsu's campus and facilities in poor shape, every dollar the state can move to baton rouge, that is where the money will flow. it ain't going to northwestern.

Another piss poor article by Isabella.

More false claims. "But even as recent as 10 years ago, college fans and supporters in north Louisiana would be hard pressed to find notable facility upgrades on their campuses. In 1989, 6,000 more seats were added as part of Tech's stadium expansion. The next major upgrade came in 2009 with a video board — Tech installed turf in 2006." Isabella pretends like the 1985 skybox wasn't added and the $2.5 million Wyly Athletic Center wasn't built in 2001. That was a big deal back then. Then there was the $500K Dooley raised and spent to renovate the locker room, and then Dooley replaced all the original chairbacks. You could even throw in a couple weight room renovations done by Karl Malone. He's also wrong about the seat additions in 1989. It was 7,600, not 6K.

"Not chasing anybody" Then he has quotes from three Tech officials with no quotes from anybody at ULM, an institution whose sole purpose for existence is to chase Tech as they moved up to DI-A just because Tech did when they had no business in major college football and now just opened their corner KFC in response to Tech's DAC. Isabella continues, "And some, like Tech, have larger donor bases. But Burke said he hopes the power moves made by Tech and ULM set in with NSU supporters." NWST's AD admits to chasing Tech and using it to motivate Demon donors. And he considers the JUCO's corner KFC a "power move" like Tech's 10x larger project?

Tech is in no way "like institutions" with those schools. Tech is a Tier 1 national university like LSU. The other three are regional colleges with very different missions than Tech. I'll never forget the former ULS prez Sandra Woodley trying to explain this to The News-Star editorial board. TNS refuses to acknowledge the truth and continues to spread this falsehood.

The north LA media and northeast LA businesses insist on trying to keep all of these institutions on the same level. They're clearly not...such crap.

Y'all keep in mind that many of our own graduates and alumn are ignorant enough to believe we are just another "small state school". Our part time baseball announcer instist on lumping us in with these schools. He may be THE most ignorant...nice guy, but ignorant.

My sister, who got her undergraduate at ULM and is starting her Masters there this fall, laughed out loud this morning at that article, at the notion that ULM could ever hope to catch Tech. She said, "It's a pointless waste of money because the race is over, Tech is so far ahead the battle was over before it started."
