Tech isn’t fighting an athletic facilities arms battle in N LA – They've won the war

In an article published by the Monroe News-Star on August 14, 2016 titled “Tech’s latest upgrades a reminder of facility arms race in athletics”, reporter and beat writer Sean Isabella compared the most recent upgrades at Louisiana Tech’s Joe Aillet Stadium to the plans of other north Louisiana schools like Grambling State University, UL-Monroe, and Northwestern State University.

I enjoy Sean Isabella’s work as the beat writer for Louisiana Tech, and I do believe he is generally fair in his assessment of Louisiana Tech athletics. However, the August 14th is incomplete in some sections and somewhat misleading by leading the casual reader to believe there is an athletic facility arms race between Tech, Grambling, Northwestern State, and UL-Monroe.

Louisiana Tech is not fighting that battle with those other three schools.

Louisiana Tech has already won the war.

    Good stuff.

I would add a few things to your report:

Construction of the Skybox at JAS in 1985. Significant renovations to JC Love Field in 2008, including the construction of a new press box.

If you are using a work computer, sometimes it can give you that message randomly (maybe not on the finite list of trusted sites). If you are using such a computer, try to close the tab you tried to open it in, and try opening a new tab with the link again (i.e. click the hyperlink again after closing the tab). Or, copy the hyperlink and try it in another browser.

Should also add the installation of the Paul Millsap Vision in the TAC.

It's so easy to forget things. A lot has happened over the past decade.

---and I think excluding LSU that the Cajuns would definitely be the winner compared to the rest of the state---and this would not only be the athletic campus but the main one and the connector is about to fall in place---It really is amazing what has been accomplished with the entire university since T-Joe has taken over!

No doubt we got a late start after finally getting some leadership change. And like this thread points out, we aren't trying to win a race. Your school obviously is. Your leadership has taken on a huge amount of debt to accomplish what it has, and the focus has been on quantity and speed...not quality. It isn't hard to see that. Congrats.

I love the amount of response this guy has gotten for his obvious attempt to incite the board.

No one here is wanting to trade facilities (or anything else) with ULL.

One of your facilities is a trailer
No one knows what to call your school
You have a hyphen in your name you can't drop
Your logo reminds me of Chili's

Are you talking about the new $18 million pressbox or the new $37 million engineering building. The new engineering building should solidify Tech's Tier one status for a very long time. The new double decker pressbox with 14 suites and south endzone complex is setting Tech athletics up for another move up the ladder. The southendzone complex and the new pressbox were done with nearly all private donations. $8 million of the new engineering building is from private donations.
