Campbell Gets Probation

The Campbell Baseball program was given a one year postseason ban (served during 2016 season) and placed on probation through Aug. 10, 2017 for using ineligible players for five seasons according to a press release from the NCAA... The violations started under former Campbell and current Alabama head coach Greg Goff and continued under current head coach Justin Haire from 2010-2011 season through 2014-2015 academic years.

Point is....do we have any reason to be concerned?

This thread title is very misleading, bordering on flat out false. Yes, Campbell gets probation, and its baseball program is one of the programs getting penalized. However, Greg Goff was not the one guilty of committing the violations. The rest of the story is that it was a clueless registrar who committed the violations. It was not a baseball-specific problem. The violation was for the registrar improperly certifying 34 mostly transfer student-athletes across 10 different sports who hadn't met all three progress-toward-degree requirements and then the university failing to monitor. The NCAA concluded the Campbell registrar didn't understand how to apply the NCAA certification process. In fact, Goff was not referenced in the report, and neither was new Campbell baseball coach Justin Haire who also served as head coach during the time period of the violations. To claim that these were "Greg Goff violations" is dishonest.
