Well we need to add "Ruston" to it so people are aware of where we are. Probably "founded in 1894" also.

the LaTech State T isn't meant for Tech fan's and grads, it's a way to make sure anyone watching can identify who they're watching. Theirs a lot of false-consensus bias going on here "I know what that logo means so everyone should" wrong. And people that don't know what it means aren't bad people but our university wants to give them the chance to understand it. Hell there are people in the USA that can't identify that as the state of Louisiana, if you just saw the State-T and googled Louisiana T, Tech doesn't show up (in fact a Ragin Cajun link shows up at the end of the page!), same if you switch it around T Louisiana or even the State of Louisiana with a T on it. Tech doesn't come up at all, but put in LA TECH and bam our webpage is first.
We are trying to grow enrollment, grow exposure, until/unless we become household name we need to make sure it's clear every time and to everyone when we are on media, who we are. As nice as the plain State-T looks it doesn't do that.
I'm a bit confused on your position. First you advocate for words because no one knows what the state-block-T stands for, which I 100% disagree with. Then you say no to Blue Dawg's suggestion of "words" to better explain who we are. Seems to me you need to make up your mind.
Do we really want a student who can't ID the most identifiable state of the union? Texas is a close second.
Still doesn't tell them what the hell the T on the state means, or what our name is... these are things that you want the person across the restaurant/bar to see and not have to think about so after awhile they say oh yeah I've seen LaTech on TV a lot, or their a pretty good school/team etc. Have the kid that walks through the room as dad is watching be able to ID it without asking or really thinking at all. But hey ya'll are marketing experts...
I have no problem knowing who these are and have NEVER had anyone asked what school the T on top of the shape of Louisiana is.... They know........
