I disagree somewhat. Getting into a shootout implies that the scoring is going back and forth. If we are in a shootout, doesn't that just mean it is high scoring but close throughout most of the game? Maybe I am getting nit picky, but I think we have trouble coming back once we get down. If we are down 2 scores, our QBs will be asked to do too much and will make mistakes.

I agree. But I think our defense is infinitely better than theirs. The key will be for LA Tech's defense to keep pressure on the TX Tech QB. Tons of pressure.

Need to treat their QB the same as Denver treated Cam Newton. Ring his bell a few times and see what that does.

Mahomes, “is kind of a Brett Favre-type quarterback. He has just an uncanny ability to get outside the pocket. He will run to one side and throw back to the middle of the field. It’s a cardinal sin to do that. He does it with regularity. The other night he throws a no-look pass. I mean, he’s looking out here and throws the ball to a guy in the middle of the field, so he’s extremely talented.“He just has a sense; he has that quarterback-sense that he just feels that pressure and has a unique ability to get back outside of containment and when he does, boy, hold onto your hat.”
He’s big. He’ll run up in there (in the pocket) and all of a sudden you’ve got guys converging on him and whoever you left in coverage, he’ll just dump it right over your head. We have a plan to try and cast a net and keep him in, like everyone else does, but that’s easier said than done sometimes with a guy of his ability.”
    X will like that!!

It's going to be a tough one. This game will depend on two simple things:
OUR defense being able to contain their QB and force him into bad throws
    Force turnovers

    1. Its hard to pressure the QB, get containment and stop the run when you need to drop eight most of the time.

    2. They get the ball out so much quicker than we will have seen.

    3. Three man front opens the running lanes.

Seems like the best defense is to keep the ball away from their offense.

We have to be better at what we do than they are at what they do. Just like it would be a mistake to try to beat them at their own game, it would be equally foolish to try to tailor our approach drastically in hopes of throwing them off. Be the better team.

Do we have a designated special teams coach?

I thought he said 4 coaches are each handling a separate part? I think I heard him say Fitch has kickoff return and Goethie has kickoff/punt. Not sure about the others.

Just repeating what I heard him say. He certainly could have added to the statement later.

ASU was balanced on offense 301 yds rushing & 351 passing. We DO NOT need to get into a passing contest - we need balance. Craft and Scott need to go over 100 yds each.

ASU had balance on offense, won the time of possession battle by 13 minutes as well as the turnover battle and still gave up 55 points. So TT is used to scoring a lot of points in short amount of time. Our offensive possessions need to be methodical and balanced. If we can find balance on offense, protect the ball and make TT drive the ball on offense (no big plays) then I like our chances.
