I love this thread! Kudos to HD. I'm sick of thinking of reasons we might lose. It's time to think about why we should WIN.
    Have you considered those Dogs?

    1. Possess the ball for 60% of the game clock. This would require sustained drives which would require balance. We need 250-300 yds rushing imo.
    2. Limit the big plays by making their offense drive the field and earn each score. This will also take time off clock and limit their opportunities.
    3. Protect the ball on offense. We can turn it over once maybe twice certainly no more.
    4. If we fail at 1-3 then score 63 points bcuz they are averaging 62!
my strategy would be different. taking time off the clock may make the game look closer, but it won't win the game -- you've still got to score more than they do. here are my keys:
    1. tell the defense that they are going to get burned. get used to it. the texas tech offense is designed to make them look silly. they have to be mentally prepared and have a short memory.
    2. take chances and create turnovers. if you try to limit big plays, you just get dinked and dunked to death and you still lose. if you take the ball away, you get more chances to score than they do.
    3. of course you take care of the ball, that goes without saying, but higgins is going to have to settle down and make smart throws. take a sack before you throw it into double-coverage.

Hope we can knock the ball away on 1st down. Our 2012 team depended on 3-4 yards on first down to allow the rhythm to develop. No progres or negative yards on 1st down usually meant 3 and out. Hope we can make that happen!

We need to bring the house on defense! Do not ever let that QB get comfortable. Bring it from different directions every play! Will we get burned some? Absolutely, but we have to force them into mistakes. Pressure will allow for that to happen.

Sure would have been cool if Colby could have come back and run scout team for a week!
