Here are some facts.
The Times chooses to only publish approximately one-half of Isabella's Tech articles online.
The Times chooses to only publish approximately one-third of Isabella's Tech articles in the newspaper.
Of the Tech articles that The Times does choose to publish, half of them have been butchered by the editors by chopping off several paragraphs sometimes mid-sentence and also by stripping the articles of photos and videos. See this embarrassment from a couple days ago: http://www.shreveporttimes.com/story...cord/92866854/ Compare with The News-Star's version: http://www.thenewsstar.com/story/spo...tory/92838822/
The Times eliminated the Tech tab on their website while they've added tabs for 3 out-of-market teams plus other topics that are no longer active so they've relegated Tech to a generic "colleges" tab with the likes of NWST, Grambling, Centenary, LSUS, BPCC, etc.
The Times has marginalized Tech's coverage all season while Roy Lang is in Chicago, Dallas, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, etc. covering games as a fanboy many of which have no local connection and that Gannett already has writers assigned to cover. The Times would have you think the Chicago Cubs are located in Shreveport, and the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs are located in Chicago. All this while their NWST/high school beat writer got laid off last week.
The last time The Times has featured Tech on the front page of the paper this season (Oct. 14) was a negative article about our defense on the same day Isabella wrote a great article about Higgins and Taylor having great chemistry that The Times refused to publish despite Taylor being a hometown hero.
Tech has only been featured on The Times sports page 5 times this season over 3 complete months: Three were negative articles about our defense, one was about the Arkansas loss, and one was a WKU preview. Translation: The Times has refused to feature a single positive article about Tech on the front page of the sports section all season, and that's even with a completely separate LSU section so it's not like The Times is bumping Tech off the sports cover for LSU on Sundays. Fact: The Times has not featured a single Tech win as a sports cover story this season. Instead, The Times is featuring stupid things like girls high school volleyball over Tech football wins.
All season. That's it.
There is absolutely no defense of Roy Lang and Scott Ferrell's media bias against Tech. None. Ferrell and Lang's hatred of Tech is obvious to anybody who pays attention to their work. I've spoken with their boss Alan English, and he basically said Tech isn't important to The Times.
It's pretty clear that LSU is The Times' "home" team, and The Times' objective is to give Tech and NWST equal coverage, which means they must not publish most of Isabella's content about Tech.

Great job, '06. You back up your position with a lot of facts & details. Roy Lang and Scott Ferrell are just a couple of lazy ole Rednecks that really have no business being in today's media. The media deserves better. North Louisiana deserves better. And Louisiana Tech certainly deserves better.
The problem is, most of these sports writers and radio talk show hosts are NOT locals.
Lang is from Chicago and South Florida. http://www.shreveporttimes.com/story...ople/28788177/
Scott is from Jacksonn and LSU http://www.shreveporttimes.com/story...rell/30108991/
These guys have "small man" disease. They think they are big time only if they are covering the P5 or professional sports. They refuse to lower themselves and simply do not care about the local G5 and FCS schools. No matter what happens, no matter how much you complain, they will never recognize Tech. Even if it was provable that covering Tech would actually profit their paper and keep them in a job, they would still ignore Tech, with absolutely NO apologies. Oops...newspaper went under...should have covered Tech and the other locals more instead of LSU... Scott and Lang don't care...wouldn't change a thing...would do it all exactly the same...even if it meant destruction of the paper and their job.
Heck, the only way they'll cover Tech is if Tech, by miracle, gets into a P5 conference and, even then, probably wouldn't cover Tech if they're not in the almighty SEC.
DFW has the same problem. Most of their radio personalities are Northerners. They spew liberal political memes while they talk only about professional sports.
Even though the majority of the DFW college educated have degrees from G5's, they will never lower themselves to talk about anything but P5s and the professionals.
Heck, on the rare occasion they do talk about a G5, it is very obvious they have no clue what is actually happening at these G5 schools.
The Times did give us tons of coverage in the weeks before the 2102 Indy Bowl.
I don't live in Shreveport, so I don't see the paper on a daily basis. This doesn't affect me like it does you. Truthfully, I rarely visit any of the Gannett websites. I get most of my news through direct links on Twitter. In football season, I simply don't have much time to stay up to date. So I visit BB&B and Twitter to get my news.
I like Roy Lang personally. He's a nice guy who I had a good relationship with during my Gannett days. I wouldn't call us friends. We've never hung out socially. But we are very different people. For whatever reason he doesn't place a priority on Louisiana Tech or believe it is important to The Times. I'm sure they have numbers to back this up. He'd much rather cover a Haynesville-Homer game, a golf tournament or a local semi-pro hockey team than cover Louisiana Tech. I don't get it. But he's been allowed for years to essentially go wherever he wants to go to write stories. And far too often that hasn't been to Ruston. (Full disclosure: Many of these events, such as the Cubs World Series, the Masters and more, Roy pays for his own travel and takes vacation days to do. He just happens to give the Times free coverage while he's on vacation.)

It's only a little worse than Hurst, which is what the Chronicle is.
.....and they wonder why nobody plays games in Shreveport anymore.
I believe LA Tech has played over 80 games in Shreveport, but none since facing Texas A&M in 2012. And if not for the current press box construction, this no-Shreveport streak would likely be stretching longer. Furthermore, I don't know many other programs that go out of their way to play in Shreveport either. Essentially, people like Lang and Ferrell are their own worst enemy. From a media perspective, they don't do anything to encourage college football in Shreveport, so that's exactly what they get. Nothing.
Let me take it a little further for you.
Monroe's GM (and Tech alum) Kathy Spurlock and the Shreveport GM Alan English were both laid off by Gannett last week. The two newspapers will now take their marching orders from . . . . . . the Lafayette paper's management.
How do you like those philosophical apples, Shreveport and Monroe customers.
Right now, by direction of Gannett, the Louisiana papers MUST publish the USA Today editorial of the day 3-4 times a week.
