    On campus today

Visited Ruston today and really enjoyed being on our beautiful campus! Makes me proud and thankful to be a Louisiana Tech Alumni! I hope the students of today appreciate their time on campus while earning their degree. Those years surely do fly by! The sound of the water and the beauty of the Lady of the Mist fountain never gets old. Enjoyed shopping in the bookstore. (I know it is old but I will be sad when it is moved/torn down.) Was strange to see an empty lot where the old pool was located.

Have enrollment numbers for Fall 2016 been released? Should be highest ever enrollment if number of cars on campus is indicator. We were on campus for first home game and were amazed at how little available parking there was around the dorms. My son is living in campus apartments and has to park down the block in rock lot due to lack of space around the facilities. Cars in back of Harper dorm were parked in the grass areas. Old Nat was in very poor condition and needed to go, will make room for much needed parking. Any word on the new engineering building ground breaking, still waiting on state approvals?

If he's in the UP/PP apartments (I was there for the last 3 years) then that's been the case as long as they've had those apartments.

AND so ????? Doesn't it seem like with as many students as have paid the high prices to live there they could at least put in an asphalt lot?

Someone mentioned on one of the other campus upgrade threads that gravel lots are essentially place-holders for future improvements, since they can be "torn down" with minimal effort as opposed to asphalt.

The gravel lot was a little dusty sometimes but it wasn't that bad of a walk.

Did it seem alive< Every time I go there on game day the QUAD has always been deserted. With 11,000 students it shouldn't be so dead even on a Saturday.

Numbers will likely be released sometime next week. It should be the highest enrollment ever for Louisiana Tech...probably somewhere around the 13,000 student mark.

Traffic is definitely busier than ever. Summer was slower than usual.
It's time to close the doors to the Temple of Janus.

Well that's a consequence of moving the stadium so far from the center of campus. We exchanged a lively center of campus during gameday for a new stadium and probably one of the best parking situations for an on-campus stadium in the country.

It's as close as most "new" stadiums. Even Kyle Field is about as far from the center of campus. And since they started building the new student housing along Alabama ours is not that far from a lot of students. Just those poor guys and girls over toward California Ave.

But you are right. The Quad is only the center of academic life, not so much student life. I would think the area around the student center and remodeled Tolliver is pretty active during the week. Also perhaps in the morning on game day it might be more lively -- before everyone goes over to the stadium. Most of us out of towners don't get over to the campus until late afternoon or early evening so we miss any activity like maybe a morning pep rally etc. This year with the March Over with the band (if it ever stops raining) it will be more lively, too.
