The last time I remember our defense tackling this poorly was against Florida St. back in '89. That was a clear difference in talent and depth. But this year I can't explain why! Maybe we have short whistle practices where thudding up counts as a tackle to avoid injuries. But it also looks like we gotten away from fundamental tackling. We won't deserve a win until this is fixed!

I really do think we have the athletes to have a decent D. I think the D coaches are not putting our players in position to succeed.
Diaz was smart and designed schemes to take advantage of the talent or lack thereof that we had. Baker is just bafoon and in way over his head. This reminds me of the Bicknell daze.
I think it is due to the soft practices most teams have gone to. Finesse football is now the norm, along with finesse practices. If you don't practice tackling you will suck at tackling.

Baker should have been let go after last season. It's all on Skippy -- he promoted him into a job for which he had no experience, and then he retained him.
Agree, Baker isn't ready for this. We need to look for a new DC next year. He's a good recruiter and a great guy, just not ready for this yet.
Strength coach is horrible.
