Will the homefield crowd make a difference against WKU?

The last time we played WKU at home I thought our crowd was instrumental in the win. The Hilltoppers never seemed comfortable and folded under the multiplied pressure. Then, I've seen times where it seemed to have little to no effect on the opponent (Southern Miss). Of course, weather seems to impact our fickle fanbase (in terms of attendance and intensity). This is our biggest home game of the season. I actually think the Thursday night game might help in terms of our east side rowdies (students). Last year's game against Southern Miss was virtually void of student impact. This will be a factor in the game imo. Anybody have a feel as to whether the students will show up in full fervor? I think the late kick might help in terms of east side participation. It will definitely diminish the west side. Historically speaking, the east side is key. But will it give us the edge?

The students on the east side will NOT be a problem Thursday night. The west side will be a different story though.

I think the students are the key variable to crowd impact (more so than actually crowd size).

I agree with DogsWin on this. I think the students (east side) will match last Saturday or more.

I have no feel for what the west side turnout will be. Not hearing many non-Tech folks talking about going. Several I've asked didn't know about the game. I'm afraid Thursday school night and 3 fairly popular high school games on will cut into our normal attendance.

It's tough for out-of-towners to make a Thursday night game. I would love to be there, but can't make it.

Yes, many of our South Louisiana, Houston, Dallas, Little Rock, etc. can't take an extra day off to make the trip. It would have been a great time to offer some sort of ticket promotion, but nope. Not our AD and his boy.

20k on a Thursday night maybe 21k is about the most I can see for a 2-3 team.

The game is on tv and that always knocks our crowd down 2-3k if you ask me.

My dad keeps his season tickets out on the counter all year and didn't realize the next ones in the book were for Thursday night. If I hadn't seen him and said, "See you Thursday night." He would have missed it. I still think we need banners around town and other promotions to make sure it is top of mind for people.
