Problems on both sides of the ball, but defense, if you can call it that, is not where it needs to be. Everyone knows how to defeat our defense and that our offense is as good as it is going to get this year.

Exactly. Just because the offense is terrible doesnt mean the defense isn't. And the defense has been terrible for much longer, without ANY change.

Bad defense is nothing new. Even our better defenses were bad. Why is it so hard to get someone who will coach our players to break up pass plays before the catch is made? Run a 4 man front instead of that inept worthless 3 man prevent crap? Blitz more than 1 time per half? If we do anything different than those items, it’s not often enough that I remember.

One exception...The Manny Diaz defense, how did he manage to take our defense from the year before his arrival and make a HUGE improvement in one year. The next year under Baker our defense reverted back to it's usual bottom dweller status.

Coaching. There are several of those guys starting in the NFL now. But they were TERRIBLE under Baker. It's all about coaching.

IIRC, Manny’s defense forced a ton of turnovers, but still gave up yards to almost everyone. I want to see our guys shut down inferior teams, not just get lucky that the offense shoots themselves in the foot.
