Is Higgins still not the answer?

The other thread is now 30 pages long....it's amusing to weave into it and find people still criticizing him. Through six games, he's thrown 17 TDs and 2 picks. Be a man/woman and apologize or admit you were wrong....whoever thought he wasn't the answer.

Exactly! Going into the season I thought Higgins would wind up being like Cody Sokol. He would have a very good season but a little too much gunslinger in him that lead to too many INTs. But I have been impressed!

Frankly, I'm still upset by the stalls we've been having, either in the fourth quarter or third quarter which have allowed WKU and MTSU to get back into the game, and why it was 14-0 all the way into the fourth quarter (same score as first) for the UTEP game. Last night we seemed to have them due to penalties, but Higgins/Holtz's play calling has to be some part of it.

Higgins has been better than expected, and I'm happy for that, but we still cannot compare J'Mar's performance as he was only able to play against Arkansas, and mop-up duty besides.

This insinuates that all criticism was unwarranted which is bogus. The guy that we've been hearing about from practice showed up last night. That's awesome. The idea that Higgins' critics were just jaded and had something personal against him is stupid.

Would J'Mar have been better? We'll never know. Here's hoping we see last night's Ryan about 8 more times this year.

I was wrong in thinking Higgins was horrible. He is mediocre. So, kudos to him, I guess.

Blame the coaches, not players for the stalls. When is Higgins calling plays? Audibles? Ok, I guess.... I hold to the key stat: 17 TDs, 2 INTs.

Who is talking about J'Mar? What does that have to do with the price of tea of Dubach? He'll be a great quarterback, until he gets his chance, then people will whine about HIM not being the answer...

If two INTs is too many.....how many would make you happy? I am not being a smart aleck...just curious. There are eighty starting quarterback with MORE INTs than he has had.

Higgins played really well last night and finally won a game that Smith would not have won for us. Most impressive to me, he has not thrown a pic since the meaningless ones in the FCS game. He did it all last night. Kudos to him!

What would make him NOT mediocre? 17 TDS and NO INTs?

Not having dropped the ball at the MTSU game, not having messed up the handoff on the goal line at the MTSU game, not being part of our stalled offense. His not completing passes is part of the reason we have stalled.

So basically you expect perfection? We have had some very good QBs in the past 2 years that made mistakes as well. Like him or not, he is our QB, and he played amazing last night.

Don't see how you can make that statement.

Not at all, those actions were mediocre, but his performance last night was great. He asked what would not make his performances mediocre, I explained. I'm glad to see that he's doing as good as Holtz has praised him. But, I'm also worried about why our offense has been stalling. He's part of that, as he's on the field when we stall, but whether it's mainly due to the OL, RB, WR, QB, coaches, or refs, who knows. Any way, I would like it to be fixed, and that is both on the coaches, AND the players.

In 2014, I noticed that if we did not get big plays, our offense stalled. Having a stellar defense made us great when focused.
In 2015, big plays were less important for us.
In 2016, it seems big plays help us early, but then we stall. Having an average defense hurts us in the second half (MTSU, WKU).

Agreed, we don't know how Smith could have performed beyond Arkansas.

Higgins was a stud last night. He only missed on a couple of passes (literally 2). There were a couple more that he threw to Henderson that I believe he should have caught had he not cut off his route.
    Have you considered those Dogs?
