Do I know that? Yes. But many potential GOP hispanics were still offended by it. And I'm not saying Trump is a racist, but he has stirred up a lot of the outright racists that had previously been marginalized.
This are basic optics issues that should have been addressed long ago, and are a large part of why Trump is performing so badly right now.
There was a sort of "chicken or egg" rumor mill that Drudge and Breitbart were largely responsible for. It's a classic propaganda technique. They publish outright false information, and other conservative outlets and Twitter would then republish it. At that point a false story gains a sort of legitimacy that it does not deserve. Anything published on either Breitbart or Drudge is worthless to me. I consider them about as reputable as Russia Today.

They are generally just linking other outlet articles and breaking news. But sometimes they do their own like the Clinton/Monica Stained Blue Dress story and that idiot Dem. Senator Edwards caught running out the back of the hotel where his mistress was staying while his wife had terminal cancer.
But many are breaking news stories of national importance.
That may have been the case in the past, but it's getting pretty bad now. They definitely repost other articles primarily, but even some of those have questionable sources. Because they used to be considered more legitimate, people still think of them as legitimate.
I guess it's because the try to at least report vs. mainly spin like others. They don't ask the Obama/Hillary camp for permission to report like CNN , CBS, msnbc, NBC etc...

Some idiot takes a sledgehammer to Trump's star on Hollywood Blvd. The police were slow, even reluctant to react. He was finally stopped but he damaged the star (in the sidewalk). No biggie, right. Just some idiot and besides, the star can be easily replaced and Trump will probably pay for it too. No, that's not the point.
Just another example of the left's violence. Every time there is political violence, it is the left doing it. All cheating, all voter fraud, all quid pro quo, all violating of laws, all unethical practices, so on and so forth, it's always the left.
