LaTech New LA Tech Receptions Record on Saturday

Trent Taylor is at 277 career receptions which is only 3 behind Troy Edwards' school record. Who would have thought this 4 years ago? It's pretty safe to say that barring injury, LA Tech football history will be made this Saturday in Ruston.

    1. Troy Edwards 280 career receptions
    2. Trent Taylor 277 career receptions

Something needs to be said about Troy in case there are some here who didn't get to see him play: He had 242 catches in just 2 years (Sophomore and Junior seasons). (plus 38 his Freshman year). Then he skipped his Senior year for the NFL.

Edwards, Simon, and Jordan all played from 1997-1999 (basically) with Rattay during those incredible offense years, and we did "okay" in the W-L department too.

Also, how many receptions did Cangelosi, Daigre, and Bradley have? They also played at that time.

Those late 1990's Gary Crowton teams and JBIII's 1999 team (that he inherited from Crowton) were FUN to watch. Those teams had some really good players. And offensively, you honestly felt that they could score from any position on the field on any play. They were deadly.

Some one mentioned the guy who came in under JBIII in about 2003 and brought us up from the bottom defensively to about the middle of the pack. He only stayed one year though.

1992--We held National Champion team Alabama to 13 points, LTU scored 0. Tech held Alabama to fewer points than anyone else that year and our defense was ranked if I remember correctly.

I recall listening to the broadcast and the spin was that the #1 offense was on the field with the #? defense (TECH) in the nation.

If my memory is good, Alabama did not score an offensive touchdown that game. There was punt return for a TD.

Yeah, by that David ???? something-or-other speedster.

We were 5-6 that year giving up 167 pts in 11 games, which included one WTF game at Fresno where they scored 48. That's 15 pts/game. Held a powerful West Virginia team to 23, South Carolina to 14, and Ole Miss to 13. Lost at a good USM team 13-16 at H'burg. We also beat Baylor 10-9 that year at Waco.

Lost to Bama 13-0. They got 2 FGs and that punt return.
