    taking care of business?

I heard Skip mention that he will give the team today and tomorrow off. I seriously hope the guys are staying on top of their grades. Surely they're being monitored but tomorrow would be a mandatory "work day" for those who have anything lower than a C in any class. That's what I'd be doing if I was the academic adviser. Also, if somebody is letting the team down by not handling their book work, I'd cut their playing time--if for nothing else so that their back-ups can get experience in case they aren't eligible for Southern Miss, Conference Championship and possible bowl game.
    Have you considered those Dogs?

Yep, we don't want a repeat of the 2014 Championship game at Marshall. We had 6 players ruled ineligible due to grades and 5 of them were starters! One of them is a starter for us now.

They usually get both days off, I think.

DW, the chances of us having a repeat are very low. Skip talked about this situation at length at the 2015 Baton Rouge tour stop in 2015 in response to a question from an alum.

The NCAA's interpretation of the rule regarding the number of hours needed to pass in the the Fall quarter at Tech (tri-semester system) went from from 5 to 6. All but one of the players impacted were those taking 8 hours and failing one three-hour class. Skip said that the interpretation was made after the Fall quarter at Tech began and player's schedules were already set, so for many players there was no margin for error. He said that beginning that season (2015) the players would take 9 hours in the Fall quarter to avoid a repeat of 2014.

I thought anything less than 9 hours wasn't considered full time anyway.

8 hours per quarter (24 hours per year) is full time. 6 hours for fall might be acceptable if they make it up the other two quarters.

How many 2 hour classes are offered? Labs are usually 1, aren't they?

Labs are 1. Lots of Kines/PE (Running) are worth 2. Basic Chemistry classes are also 2.
