Construction fences have been put up in front of Aswell/Adams. I assume this is for a new Dorm.

Most Americans will never realize how good we have it with walking distances until you move to another country. Students complaining about walking 15 minutes is hilarious.
Anyway many of them could use the exercise and less Pepsi. But then again, we could all use less Pepsi because it's not coke.
I don't know where you're talking about walking from. When I was there if you lived on campus you had to park your car in the dorm parking lot and leave it there. At least you couldn't drive to class. I never had a car any way and only knew a few that did. So I am assuming you're talking about off campus students, of which there are a much greater percentage now than when I was there.
Are those new Apartment Dorms too far to walk. With the two bridges over the RR they don't look to be any further than Carruthers, Nielsen, Hutchinson.
I'm guessing TigersBulldogs is referring to "Near Campus" living. I know there are LOTS of students who live just outside the perimeter...University Crossing, Collegiate Station, Campus Evolution for example.
I wish the City of Ruston (or a private company) could provide some sort of public transportation (busses? trolleys?) to help students commute from around Ruston to the campus. San Marcos and TXST do a nice job of that, since many of their students are in similar housing to ours. Granted, I think their enrollment is over 2X ours, and San Marcos is just exploding in terms of population.
Back in the dark ages they used to run regular school buses from out lying areas. I had a friend who lived in Dubach our freshman year and he rode the Yellow Hound. I believe they also ran one up from the south. They might have run one from all four directions. The buses arrived in time for the first class and didn't leave until the last labs were done. Plenty of library time (or Tonk time) when not in class. But I agree some local buses or trolleys would be very helpful and reduce the parking problem.
So true. In Uganda I met so many kids that felt so blessed to walk 1 1/2 hours easily to go to school every day for a good education. And most were barefoot! It was crazy!!
And you talk about disciplined and respectful students....just amazing!!
They have schools in Uganda? I don't see how anyone living in Uganda could feel blessed.
There are starving children in China (or is that Biafra), too, so eat all your broccoli.
