Even if he doesn't receive a P5 offer, he could go to a place like Rice and easily double his money.

My suggestion: Get Skip's new contract done quickly. It won't keep the P5's away, but it should keep the Rice's and other G5's at bay.
Is there any reason we can't up the buyout significantly? Not to ULL levels, which would be stupid, but more than 520K?

Skip has all kind of money. I bet his interest would be more in location. A place with lots of great golf courses.

Money sometimes is an ego thing. I don't think Skip is on an ego trip.

Y'all must not have heard. Isabella and our AD announced back in Feburary that HCSH new contract would be finalized by the end of February.

Can't make this crap up. Isabella regurgitates exactly what our AD tells him to spew.

Just looking at that list, I can't stop thinking about how far higher education has gone off track.

I did a quick search on "highest paid professors" and got that tenured law professors (the highest paid professors) median salaries are about $143,000, and they go down from there. Doing another search I see the median for college presidents is about $263,000....less than the football coach at ULM!

When did the highest paid FB coach hit the Million per year mark? Mid 90's

Its a business. People want the product and so it gets paid for.

Of course, I don't like that most of it is state funded. Should let market determine the value.

Most of HCSH salary is not and will not be mostly state funded. Neither was Dykes.

It's impossible for none of it to be state funded.

Some of ya'll are smoking the good stuff. 9 win seasons at Tech aren't gonna get skip a big time P5 offer.

I think skip is awesome and perfect for Tech, but USF was a huge resume stain. Im sure I don't appreciate the risk our leaders took when hiring him. Rightly or wrongly, his public coaching reputation among fans is not good at all, and he hasn't had enough signature wins to even get on the radar to redeem himself.

Related note: Tech threw him a lifeline and a second chance when no one else would. I'd bet that counts for something in his book

Yeah unless he wants a Kansas, Iowa State, or Wake Forest type job...Hey what about Central Florida?

    I know. That's good.

I'm talking about the wider athletics budget, following the "higher ed off track" train of thought.

That's where skip's intelligence and experience comes in. He knows where he can and can't win. I think that's one big reason he answered the phone when BVDV interrupted his golf swing.
