We have been getting a great deal from Skip.
Rice is paying 900k for a 1-6 coach.
NT and UTSA are paying 800k for coaches to have 6-6 records.
Hard to put a price on what our previous coach(and AD) cost UNT in wins, or lack of, donations, fans, etc., for about the same pay. The previous regime cost us dearly. And the previous AD cost us dearly for 15 years.

Give him a 200k (or so) raise and expand his assistant coach fund by 150k (or so). LaTech offers something different than just about any G5 program in the country in terms of hassle-free control in a talent-rich region. Like Dwayne said, Skip is extremely intelligent and he's not going to bite at offers based on an ego trip. Make him a respectful offer and he'll be alright.

    Truth.

I know how good this football season must feel to UNT fans. Glad to have them back into competitiveness

Yes, we think we know what he wants and what you describe makes sense. I'm not sure our AD understands how all this works. Imagine what HCSH must think when he is forced to negotiate with a guy who sets new records for what G5s pay HBCUs and passes up hundreds of thousands that Sunbelt ADs find a way to bargain for.

Heck, give him $300K and let Holtz be the AD as well (ala Dooley). I guarantee you with his college network all of our schedules (not just football) would improve significantly.

I honestly think he would be very good as an AD. But it's more hassle. I don't think he likes alot of hustle and hassle when it comes to PR.

    To borrow from BVDV...

I'm sure TMac will secure the lion's share

It continues to boggle my mind how UNT is not a G5 powerhouse. Huge resources are literally all around you, just waiting to be harvested. It can't be that hard.

    No tradition.

    Commuter school.

In the middle of numerous A5 schools.

No respect ever earned via big wins over A5s

This describes most of the schools in C-USA other than the obvious ones like LaTech and USM who have been around for over 100 years.

Who is smoking good stuff? Need I remind you that Tenn. hired Dooley after a 4 win season?

Heck, lsu fired a coach that won 10 games a year.

My point is you never know what's gonna happen in the coaching world.

It is a good feeling when you have something to play for, whether it's for a possible bowl spot or just respect. I will say this, in the event we can get past UTSA this weekend, look for a really nice homecoming crowd against La Tech. The students are already talking up UNT football, especially homecoming. Not predicting the game outcome, just a good college football game atmosphere. Hope we get a good turnout from La Tech.

Why would you pick Tech as your HC game? Sorry but I couldn't help it.
