No idea, I have been to lots of games and never knew.
I am hard of hearing and always thought it was "maybe" -- meaning I ain't graduated yet but " maybe"
They pronounce it "BAY-BEE!" And it's superfluous. Dr. Guice's reply to this tweet puts the issue to rest, in my opinion:Les Guice Retweeted ◇Ky◇
That's a deal! Provided you can get John P. Graham to sign off on that... #WeAreLATech

Petition to officially put "BABY!!!" in the alma mater.@LATech @lkguice
Don't know who started that goofy tradition, of saying "bay-bee", but may he sleep under a camel with postnasal drip!
It's been a part of the alma mater since my first day of class in 2000, and I sing it every time we sing the alma mater. No clue when or why it started.
the bold, the beautiful, theprofessor
There's also an X-rated version of the final lines in the fight song...
I know the words and always sing the Alma Mater at our TECH games. However, I do not sing the Baby part as that is not how I learned it!! I saw a young girl down in front of me singing the entire Alma Mater last night. I went down and complimented her for knowing all the words and singing them!!!
Yes, 70TechGrad we learned the Alma Mater. I never knew the fight song had word until a few years ago. I also remember the GO, TECH, GO chant we did with the alternate fight song. I believe the names of the two songs are "Go Bulldogs" and "Bulldogs Fight" with the second being favored now. If anyone knows for sure they can certainly correct me.
For most of those that sing Bay-Bee that's the only "part" of the alma mater they do sing.
I dont like it. But as long as you sing the rest of the anthem I'll begrudge it.
