Coach Roid Leopard...that's great!
Coach Roid Leopard...that's great!
Yea, I would hate to lose a coach that loses to the likes of Northwestern State, Old Dominion, and Middle Tennessee. Skip only has a winning record at Tech because our schedule is so weak. I hope that he gets the Purdue job.
Hopefully and Skip or Coach Roid are not selected for opposite reasons.

Skip needs to win at least 2 C-USA championships before any P5 school is going to look at him. He had 3 losing seasons in a row. Nobody else is as stupid as Tennessee.
I just pulled the Sagarin ratings for 2014-2016.
vs Top 25: 0-3 (Oklahoma, Auburn, Mississippi St). Average score is 46-17
vs 26-75: 2-7
This is our sweet spot. Just about every game is close, with the exception of Rice 2014 (76-31 win) and USM 2015 (58-24 loss)
- Marshall (23-26 loss, away)
- WKU (38-41 loss, away)
- Kansas St (33-39 loss in OT, away)
- Arkansas (20-21 loss, away)
- Texas Tech (45-59 loss, away)
- MTSU (34-38 loss, away)
- WKU (55-52 win, home)
*We need more of these games, and more at home. I guess CUSA needs to improve to get more of these games.
vs teams 76 and over: 22-2 (average score is 44-15). The losses were 27-30 vs NW State and 27-30 in OT at ODU. A couple of flukes.
So Holtz is 24-9 against teams outside the Top 25 and had a second half lead in 6 of the 9 losses. (Marshall, Kansas St, Arkansas, MTSU, NW State, and ODU). Really close to 30-3.
Not even close! We are the only team that has beaten them badly this year...so far. The UMASS homer commentators said as much during the game. And then the following week, for the third time this year, UMASS beat itself vs. South Carolina. ODU beat 'em fairly well, 36-16, but even in that game UMASS had two crushing turnovers. ODU was the better team that day though, no doubt about it.
They are 2-7, but could easily be 5-4 right now. Turnovers and penalties at crucial moments are killers.
