How to pray for the President

1st Timothy 2 calls Christians to pray for those in authority. That may be easier when you agree with the President, but in my experience, it's not regular for me regardless of who is in office. Contrary to the assertions of some here, I don't hate the President. I think he was a bad choice (I believe Hillary was too), but that doesn't absolve me from my obligation to fulfill the commands of 1st Timothy 2.

So, here's a resource for all who may be interested. It's from the 1979 Book of Common Prayer. And for those of you who love the President, but hate JBE, it mentions the governor too...

O Lord our Governor, whose glory is in all the world: We commend this nation to your merciful care, that, being guided by your Providence, we may dwell secure in your peace. Grant to the President of the United States, the Governor of this State, and to all in authority, wisdom and strength to know and to do your will. Fill them with the love of truth and righteousness, and make them ever mindful of their calling to serve this people in your fear; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end. Amen. (Book of Common Prayer 1979, p. 820)

Been doing that off and on my adult life. Should definitely do it more than I do, but I have done it for every president since I was a teenager.

Aug 3, 2016 - We are to be those who stand in the gap, who lift up our nation with all it ... be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live ... Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.

Praying for those in authority means we constantly ask that the Lord will ... the way I should, and I'm sure that's the case for some of you as well.
