Again … that's pretty weak sauce.
I guess because bad manners were never before celebrated as a character strength in an elected official. Like the lsu fan who can projectile vomit all over the visitors. Anywhere else, he'd be escorted out. But on gameday in BR, he's a role model. You're really proud that your crew finally has someone who can projectile vomit just as well as the other guys? If it's nasty when they do it, that's a reason to NOT do it.Again, you complain about Trump’s civility, why never before him was this an issue with you?
And also because I hold Republicans -- allegedly the party of higher values -- to a higher moral standard. I dont expect the world to be anything other than the world. And I dont expect a staunchly secular party, like the Dems, to be anything other than secular. But when Republicans claim to be the tribe of a traditional Judeo-Christian values, I expect more.
I think we conservatives should immediately hire protection detail for The Squad. We don’t want anything to happen to the slam dunk campaign for all republicans in the next cycle.
Guy I work with today brought up a point that I had not considered before, but I'm trying to find examples that counter it but I can't so far. He said if you notice and listen carefully to what Trump talks about and who he "attacks", he goes after Democratic politicians, he doesn't demean or degrade democratic voters. Democratic politicians have called Trump supporters and voters "deplorables", "garbage", "racists", or "nazis". This I have seen via news clips in their own words. I have yet to see where Trump has used similar language to describe democratic voters. I'm sure you guys can help me find examples.
White nationalists that Trump counts in his base are all of those things? Do you disagree? And he keeps flirting with these people with extreme ill ideologies.
I do remember a time when Trump made up a lie about Democrat voters after the midterm elections: “When people get in line that have absolutely no right to vote and they go around in circles. Sometimes they go to their car, put on a different hat, put on a different shirt, come in and vote again. Nobody takes anything. It’s really a disgrace what’s going on”
When have you EVER heard of an American-born white person being told that they should go back to the country from where they came? It just doesn’t happen.
But that phrase, and it’s variants, has a long history with people of color. I have personally heard white people say that to people of color, or more frequently, about people of color not to their face. I know you have, too.
To understand how people of color who have experienced this slur, you should check out this collage of letters written by ordinary American citizens who have personal experience with the phrase.
