these people get deeper and deeper inside their echo chamber every day. they are absolutely shocked that a perfectly reasonable statement is not taken as a dog whistle by the majority of americans!
and the part that really bothers me is that they keep forcing me to defend trump! stop it! there's plenty of legitimate criticism -- why do they have to bring the crazy?
Trump's biggest issues:
He is an ineloquent communicator, but he is effective at getting his point across. Like most Yankees, he does a lot of boasting, exaggeration and embellishment (Cuomo and Christie are also perfect examples).
It wasn't his turn. He wasn't even playing the game and ended up running the game. It was supposed to be Hillary or Jeb (Cruz will never be granted a turn by the frat boys), and Trump ruined all of that.
He is right about our immigration policy, right about China and what real free trade looks like, right about getting rid of regulation to make US companies competitive, right about Supreme Court Justices and a bunch of other stuff. I do cringe when I hear him speak of wanting negative interest rates and a few other things, but I am pleased he has not flip-flopped on the issues he spoke about during the campaign like I thought he would, and I am also pleased we did not create a whole new level of bureaucracy in his response to the pandemic (much like Bush did after 9-11 where absurd powers were given to unelected agencies to spy on Americans - even presidential candidates - for whatever purpose they can think of and lie about on the proper documentation).
