For violent crime in the US, you are far safer in Seattle than you are in Detroit, St. Louis, and Memphis. Hell, I know quite a few people that have had really bad experiences with robberies in New Orleans.

Where were you in Seattle when it happened? I go there from time to time and would like to make sure I don’t go someplace that is not safe.

If we want to make every election a referendum on Trump, he started 5-0 after his inauguration. Since then, such as the Alabama fill-in Senate seat, such elections have not gone Trump's way.

There's an old saying which holds plenty of water: all politics is local. So, how much of ANY election, win or lose, is because of the POTUS? That's up for debate.

That said, I do believe that Congressional races are closely tied to who the POTUS is. Maybe even some governorships. Usually, historically, the party "not in power" which is defined by who holds the WH, gains seats in mid-term elections. And the reason I said Texas is up first is because these elections today are not special elections to fill suddenly vacated seats. This is the real McCoy toward what Congress will look like come January, 2019.

However, the Big blue wave.. and Texas going purple or flipping blue is not going to happen in my lifetime. Ted Cruz got more votes than all of the other democratic candidates combined.

To be fair....dem turnout is up nicely since 2014, but lower than it was in 2008

And of course Texas is a red state and is unlikely to flip anytime soon. Texas does show that Dems motivation is up and if that you turnout carries through the rest of the year, that could spell trouble for the GOP in states and districts where they are more vulnerable.

Where did I hear all of this kind of stuff before. Oh yeah...



History tells us that they will more than likely pick up enough seats to control the house. They won't have the votes to repeal tax reform or tank the economy (unless Trump lets them), but they will likely "investigate" everything republican in nature and as a result likely lose the house by 2020.

At the very least, passing anything will take votes from both parties, so no more Obamacare stupidity.

A huge divide exists in the Democrat Party between the Pelosi/Shumer old guard and the young socialists that all backed Bernie Sanders. The young socialists won't turn out in the general election to support establishment Democrats any better than they did in 2016.
