As evidence that this was always going to look bad. Or else Trump would have pulled us out during the 4 years he was POTUS or Obama would have pulled us out sometime in 2012 or thereafter. We know from Vietnam what it looks like when you quit a war you haven’t won. It isn’t pretty.
I am sure there are many aspects of the exit that could have been done better, but Trump has plenty of opportunities to demonstrate it and for some reason he didn’t. He passed the buck.
You're the only person I've had a conversation with that thinks Biden is doing a "good" job. Did you hear about the little girl that was trampled to death at the airport yesterday or the lady that had her teeth knocked out by the Taliban? Biden's military advisors were 180 degrees off from what Biden did.
Monday morning QBing is easy. Should all our military been left in place until we knew the Afghans could defend their turf without us? Yep. Should they have remained until all Americans and Afghan translators were evacuated? Yep. Should they have maintained control of and removed all military supplies, weaponry, and munitions? Yep. However, some things are so basic that it doesn’t take Monday morning QB’s to know it was all done wrong. Bad timing, bad planning, bad training, bad leadership. We have heard from more than a few former military that the higher ups don’t know what they are doing and their replacements they are training up are no better. The few who do know what is going on can’t get Biden to listen to them apparently.
The Taliban are threatening all out war on any foreigners left beyond the targeted deadline. I just heard Biden wants to extend the deadline in a vain attempt to salvage something politically. He had better get the Taliban's permission first.
I thought I heard that they dismissed his desire for an extension.
If this is the case, he might get the escalation he said he didn't want (or just let Americans and allies get murdered).
I am hoping they figure this one out. Unlike the left, I am not thrilled about people dying to make a political point. I hope God blesses whatever he decides to do and those people get out safely.
Amen to that! We have had friends stationed in harms way there and thankfully they got out weeks ago. Can’t imagine what families are going through wondering if their loved ones are alive and whether their government will do what it takes to bring them home.
Responding to questions Fed Chairman Jerome Powell just sung the praises of the labor market "in the 2-3 years just prior to the pandemic." He cited growing wages, beginning at the very bottom, historic lows in unemployment and historic highs in people engaged in the work place, and hoped we'd see a return to that situation soon.
Hmmm....who was POTUS in those 2-3 years just prior to the China virus?
Just asking.
d80, you have to watch it. The fact checkers will declare your statement mostly false for using the word “the” instead of “a”.
Oh, and Powell said there are no rate hikes in the near future, but could be 6 or 7 hikes by the end of 2024. Depending on how the economy is doing, of course. With the Bidenites "in charge" that means we won't see any rate hikes before the end of 2024. Okay...maybe one, since there is lots of money still sitting on the sidelines.
You quoted Powell, so I just quoted him back at you.
“Over the course of a long expansion, these persistent disparities can decline significantly, but, without policies to address their underlying causes, they may increase again when the economy ultimately turns down.”
