    A view from a far

Louisiana Tech University’s football team has no damn business being 4-5 with the weak schedule it has played. Three losses by one point. Another loss in double overtime after blowing an 11-point lead in the final four minutes. Less than mediocre QB play. It is truly disappointing that the coaching staff continues to make the same mistakes. Based on the staff’s incompetence and unwillingness to make adjustments, I am beginning to wonder if Jack Bicknell III isn’t back running this team.

Even in the unlikely event the team does become bowl eligible, the season has been a waste. I was making arrangements to head down for a bowl game. I guess I can spend that money elsewhere.

Obviously the "70 injured players" narrative was pushed heavily with the Stadium broadcast crew prior to the game. Between the sideline reporter and two guys in the booth, they had to have brought it up at least a dozen times during the broadcast yesterday.

It's weak and deserves to be questioned. Holtz started his injury excuse making 6 days before yesterday's loss. He had the players out there to win yesterday. Losing one DLine guy did not cost us the game. He choked again as an HC.

Holtz needs to STFU, start kicking some ass, and start benching some of his pets. He should start with the QB. He should also quit calling plays.

No doubt. BhadDawg and I had an exchange about the number yesterday, and quite honestly the number makes no sense at all. I would be shocked if we had 70 players who have even participated in games this season. The way Holtz is spinning the talking point, it makes it sound as though every one of our 3-deep has missed game time due to injury.

Re: A view from a far

It would be great if we would just stop having Skip Holtz interviews altogether. We need a lot less talk and more touchdowns. Calling the same stale plays over and over until players finally go out injured (like Craft yesterday) will not beat any opponent.

Or how about icing our own kicker before the last Field Goal attempt? LA Tech had to burn a timeout because #61 apparently didn't know he was even on the kicking team, and ran out late to join the lineup. And while he was running out there, another player --a 12th player-- did the same thing. It looked like keystone cops out there. Since we were playing Game 9 of this season, this is a sign of really bad coaching.

The view is the same from a little bit farther away too.
