A multi-parish facility would benefit only one institution....the one it's built on.

Sudden rainstorm hits a 4 pm practice. The on-site team goes indoors. The facility director gets calls from the other 4 partners. "Sorry the other 3 called ahead of you. You can get in at 10 pm tonight. Want me to pencil you in?"

I don't think we should spend $ just to brick something in. I think if we have brick, it needs to be a part of something - new concessions, restrooms, team shop etc.

A brick facade would be very expensive. In the millions. The brick facade on UL-Lafayette's new baseball stadium ran $1 million.

As an alternative, Tulane installed a combination of bricks and cinder/concrete blocks that had a brick looking facing in its new stadium. When this subject came up a few months ago I asked a friend of mind at Tulane for a tour of Yulman to get a really good look at what they did. It looked much better than I thought it would.

I wonder if they'll let the fans jump in those pools on those hot Sept. Saturdays. There will be a lot of jokes about those pools.

A glass half-empty opinion. A more reasonable Scenario: The weather looks like thunderstorms tomorrow. I'll schedule a 10AM practice on the fields, and a 2pm or 4pm or 12pm, or 6pm time in the indoor facility just in case. Our weather forecasting has gotten better since the dawn of space satellites

Exactly........ Plus, you could have a set schedule for the season, anyway. Each team has a time slot when it rains - pre-set. You can use it or not at your pre-scheduled time during a rain storm or heat. Everyday is booked and special events carved out. You would know each day when your time is scheduled before any surprise storm. It is yours during that time frame, regardless.

Just a practical opinion for an impractical idea of including high schools. Bottom line: 30-minute bus(es) rides aren't cheap.

And a PS: If you include WM and Neville, then you'd have to include WO, Ouachita, Sterlington and Richwood. . . . Wossman and Carroll.

Ya'll can have the other half of the glass of drink.

Not necessarily, it depends on how you structure it. If you include Ruston HS, you can get the City of Ruston on board, plus RHS's boosters. Plus, Neville and West Monroe HS's are located in the city of West Monroe (separate from Ouachita Parish & Monroe city; if I'm wrong, then you could reach some agreement with only their boosters), so you can get that city and the boosters of those schools on board. If you want to include Lincoln Parish, then you could include Choudrant and Simsboro.

Again, it depends on how you structure the agreement. Just including Tech, City of Ruston & RHS boosters, and the City of West Monroe & NHS/WMHS boosters is not too difficult to accomplish. 4 2-3 hour slots is not too difficult to schedule. Nor would 6-7 2 hour slots, especially if some teams are not averse to waking early.

I agree though that it would be difficult to include the entirety of Oachita Parish HS's in the equation.

However, losing a day of practice is worse than the expense of taking a bus trip 30 minutes away. I'll take my other half of the glass, thank you
