Difference between basketball and wbb is that there is financial reward for basketball and none for wbb via the NCAA tourney and revenue distribution units -
Title IX has been the major separator and will continue to be where the larger schools EVEN UP their budgets on the women's side via wbb and gymnastics and to some extent softball...
How Leon was able to hold it together is still amazing -
I think we can be annual contenders for the NCAA with surprise runs to the Sweet 16 and occasional Elite 8 appearance with special players, but Final Fours are probably gone the way of the VHS player

I agree to a certain extent. UConn will have the same problem, if they fall for a couple of years. They are now playing in the AAC. They are hanging on, because the best players want to go to programs that they have a chance at championships and to play for crowds. Once gone, it is hard to rebuild.
I do believe we can be relevant again, though. It will be extremely tough, but easier for us than most of our conference mates. Same for ODU. It takes a special year, then a special recruit, then a couple of other recruits to come because of that recruit. Making the name relevant again by a S16 will go a long way toward building. Much tougher after the fall, but not impossible. It will take some time, though.
Started with Budke, started diving under Long, brief hope under Spoon and then dove further, then Summit furthered the decline (especially with the scandal). Brooke is all Tech and has the best chance of any at any type of revival. She will need time, though. There will be peaks and valleys for a while. End this year strong and we have a VERY VERY young team coming back.
Can this Lady Techster team win 20 games this year? They are currently 13-11 with 5 WINNABLE regular season CUSA games remaining. What are the chances that they run the table and win a couple of games in the CUSA tournament to get to 20?
The Florida schools should be winnable, as should North Texas. Rice and Southern Miss are tougher opponents, but we've already beaten both once. Plus Rice is at home and Southern Miss's coach (I hate to say it, but it's true) is currently away for health. So as far as the regular season goes, winning out isn't that far-fetched. But this young team has to show up every game. Then it's just a matter of winning two games in the tourney to reach 20 wins. If we win out, we should be either the 4th or 5th seed (depending on what ODU does). Of course, that distinction is huge because if we're 5th that gives us an extra game to win (but also to lose). Although, as 5th seed we'd start off against the lowest seed, right? So that could be another W there.
TL;DR: it's possible to reach 20, but they have to show up every game.

It's basically the summary if you didn't feel like reading the whole thing.
