    Haynesville Shale is waking up!

Got two letters today stating that the O&G companies holding the mineral lease on two of my properties, have applied for a permit from the state to start producing the gas wells. We have three such properties. Got a lease payment back in 2009 then the wells were capped. Now...royalty checks, baby!

I suppose this is a direct result of Trump's election. The O&G industry is about to shake off 8 years of repressive regulations, and man! will it ever explode!!

Putting Americans back to work. Creating energy independence.

    MAILBOX MONEY!!!

I've also heard that they're likely to go ahead with the Dakota Access Pipeline, and there are even rumors that Trump's administration will look into restarting the Keystone XL.

Need to figure out how to use less water and clean what is used and also don't cause earthquakes. Otherwise, enjoy.

Re: Haynesville Shale is waking up!

I pulled the file out, and dusted it off, and see that our third property that was leased has expired. It was a 4-year lease but they did nothing with it, that means someone will have to fork over a new lease payment when they produce in that area.

In case some of you didn't know Louisiana law re: mineral rights. O&G producers have (own!!!) the mineral rights in perpetuity IF they produce a well for 30 days, I think that's the period. That means they can lease property, getting the mineral rights, drill and produce a well for 30 days, cap it, and it's theirs until Judgment Day! If they don't drill/produce a well, the lease can expire and the surface owner again owns all the mineral rights.

You might recall the unfortunate folks in Desoto Parish who saw all their neighbors becoming instant millionaires, back in 2008-09, and thought they would be too. But, in their case, Exxon held a lease from 1948, and they produced wells for the required period, and therefore owed nothing to the current surface owners, in lease payments. The surface owners should get royalty payments when a well produces in their section, however.

Clyde: as for water use and water treatment, I started a thread about a small company that holds a patent on a unit that would be perfect for the O&G industry. Portable, energy efficient, and the small unit can treat 100,000 gallons/day and the larger one 250,000 gallons/day. They both fit easily on a trailer, and are stackable. Meaning, you could put as many as 4 units on a flatbed, 40' trailer, and park it at well locations.

The EPA requires the water to be cleaned before it is discharged back into the environment. This unit does that perfectly. You could drink the water coming out of this unit. (well, maybe Pres. Trump will clip the EPA's wings and such things won't be required anymore, we'll see).

My son is in the O&G business and he was laid off about 2 years ago, and since then has been working for a company that manufactures/sells tools for big jobs. He's doing pretty good where he is now, making 6 figures, but he is watching the O&G industry for opportunities. I have lots of kinfolk, especially on my wife's side, who were hit hard by the energy recession. It'll be great to see good people find great jobs again.

And, Louisiana stands to benefit big time from a resurgent US O&G industry!!!

I can vouch for the earthquakes. We had several here in Conway before they stopped pumping the fracking and saltwater back into the ground.
