We are performing increasingly worse vs our biggest competitor in CUSA West.
2013 Tech 36 - USM 13 (+23 point win)
2014 Tech 31 - USM 20 (+11 point win)
2015 Tech 24 - USM 58 (-34 point loss)
2016 Tech 24 - USM 39 (-15 point loss)

On the bright side, we held them to fewer points. I rule that a net gain.
2013 4-8
2014 9-5
2015 9-4
2016 8-4 so far
back to back bowl wins --
CUSA 23-10 under Holtz 20-5 CUSA last 3 yrs
1 point loss to Arkansas beat Illinois in Bowl games my personal favorites were embarrassing ULL and destroying Arkansas state
Put 7 guys in pros from last year and that absolutely takes talent and COACHING.
For 50 year fans like me these are glory days again-- 3 straight bowls and divisional title..... yeah-- I was upset Saturday nite but takes a lot more than that to ruin season for me
be sure to tell that to Illinois-- WK twice - . you are actually ridiculing the history of Tech football by ridiculing conference-- we were beating schools over last 50 years that no longer play football. WAC is gone and it seems like yesterday BBB was rejoicing to be in CUSA. My thinking since I joined BBB has been consistent-- we need money--- we got posters whining about a 15$ ticket--- my thinking is simple, support the program with what you can. I have doubled my contributions to Tech academically and LTAC. buy extra season tickets for football-baseball-basketball . Never miss a game (50 yrs). Proud to have a TAG scholarship dedicated in my name. SO tell me what part of my thinking needs to change??
this is not attack on your post-- just some additional info-- Coach has been very active in fundraising. He has been constantly traveling to raise money for program .. word I get is he has passed on personal raises to pay assistant coaches. USA today posts average coast of a win in college football and we are always around 55K which is very low cost. His 500k from Florida running out this year and its kind of embarrassing to have ULL paying lousy coach a million and we are bottom of CUSA list for coach pay. 1 million is a lot but in terms of a head coach at a respectable program it is starting point
Not be so damn giddy over beating Sunbelt and other shitty teams. Not be so nostalgic when we need to keep progressing. Realize the majority of our fanbase and population of North Louisiana are not in your economic situation. Realize that Tech sucks up to you and other important people, but not the casual or otherwise loyal fan. That Tech is nowhere close to being an elite in anything yet Tech and too many others pretend we are an exclusive elite club and that this is all their personal playground.
I'm sure there's more. Those are the main points right now.
Before the season started, I saw us at 7-5 (I didn't think we would beat WKU the first time... )
So 8-4, playing in the C-USA championship, and maybe headed to 8-5 is pretty good.
We are going to a bowl for the third year in a row.
Here is the thing. Coach Holtz is a decent recruiter, a solid spokesperson, and a good fundraiser. Hell, he might be the nicest most personable coach we have ever had. He is a program builder, and I love that. Our facilities are better than they have been in years.
He will win the games he is supposed to win every year. If the stars are perfectly aligned, the other team makes a mistakes or is injured, and someone makes a crucial kick we might win a game or two we weren't supposed to win.
That being said. I don't see us getting to double digit wins. I don't see us regularly beating P5 teams. So we will be consistently 7-5, 8-4, and sometimes 9-3
It's also why I don't see another P5 school "hiring him away". They don't want a program builder, they want a winner who is going to get you double digit wins every year.
Keep in mind this is his first team with a full allotment of scholarship players too. 2013 was an FCS team as far as scholarships go. 2014 was a championship game. 2015 was 1 game from another championship game. 2016 is back to championship. 2017 team is stacked for years to come. The "next step" begins next year, imo.
