Possible Bowl Opponents

We have no idea who we will play at this time, but it is interesting to speculate. I'm hoping we go 11-3, and we make it very desirable for another bowl to beg for us in a mediocre bowl season. On the other hand, we will most likely go with our agreed upon bowl games. So with that being said, here's what it's looking like late on a Saturday evening...

Bowl	2016
Boca Raton	vs. American Conference - I'm guessing possibly Temple.
Bahamas	vs. MAC - I'm guessing possibly Eastern or Central Michigan.
Heart of Dallas	vs. Big 10 - It looks like possibly Indiana, Northwestern, or Maryland.
New Orleans	vs. SBC - I'm guessing either App State or Ark State.
New Mexico	vs. MWC - I'm guessing New Mexico or Wyoming.
Hawaii	vs. MWC - I'm guessing Air Force or Colorado State.
Independence	vs. SEC/ACC - I'm looks like possibly for the ACC: Wake Forest, NC State, Boston College and for the SEC: Kentucky, South Carolina, Ole Miss, and possibly Vanderbilt.

I think this year looks a little different than last year. As I mentioned, I would like to be 11-3 with other bowls begging us to come play. If we stick to the agreements, it looks like Indy and Heart of Dallas give us the best opponents. Otherwise - I'd go west. Given the possibilities - what matchup would make you the most excited? I would have to go with an Indy Bowl against Boston College or Ole Miss and/or Heart of Dallas match-up with Northwestern. Although a matchup against Vandy seems like a fun matchup.

Unless USM upsets Tech there will be no more than 6 CUSA teams eligible, so the Independence Bowl is contractually off the table. Our top priority is to play the Big10 in the Heart of Dallas Bowl. Our consolation scenario is likely back to the NO Bowl vs the SunBelt champions.

Agree on the choice between those 2. No to N.O......... I really want HOD as first pick, with Indy second - just due to opponent.

Heart of Dallas and Maryland. They have to win against Rutgers to make a bowl though. I don't want it for any reason other than my husband is a life long Maryland fan- converted to TECH fan.

He didnt seem that great vs Vandy. Recievers also dropped lots of passes. They dont have a good defense.

Out of all the picks, the bolded ones I think are best for exposure and marketing. Obviously between the two bowls, I'd prefer Dallas, but a quality SEC opponent in our backyard is hard to pass up. If we beat one of them, that helps with recruiting and promoting our university in the state. People will notice LaTech in Louisiana after beating South Carolina or Ole Miss to top off a three year bowl streak.

Lack of eligible teams from C-USA?

Like last year, when that didn't happen, a trade can still be made. Of course we have to have a commissioner and an AD who understand how these things work. It's too easy for them to say, like last year, "it can't be done".

I would argue that someone who can bargain is more important than having something to bargain. You know that exercise at job interviews where you have to sell a pen to the HR director....well, some people could sell that pen to a person with no fingers. I'm not sure we have anyone like that.
