Swapping out Western Michigan for Navy in the Armed Forces Bowl might be part of a solution. There is also a spot the Big Ten cannot fill in the Heart of Dallas Bowl on Dec. 27 that could be a good fit for Western Michigan if it falls out of the New Year's Six.

wow
Basically I've seen most of the polls and we have been mentioned in all of the CUSA bowls and even Aunt Juanita's cereal bowl. However I have not seen any mention of HOD bowl by the "experts". I've seen UNT a few times etc.
I think the HOD Bowl makes the most sense. I've been reading the WKU board (Hilltopper Haven) and they are set on Boca Raton. Even if we lose the championship game, the HOD should still be up for grabs. Also, the winner from the west has played in the HOD for the past two years and the winner from the east has played/chosen the Boca Raton Bowl every year since it was founded in 2014. Geographically, USM is about as far from NOLA as Ruston is from Dallas, so it makes sense to say that Tech will play in Dallas and USM will play in NOLA. As far as UNT goes, they should feel fortunate to even get invited to the post-season party with their five wins. Give them the left overs. Yes, UNT did play in the HOD Bowl in 2013, but that was a 9-3 team and a far cry from their current record of 5-7.
I honestly think the majority of those analysts fixate on the bowls that are likely to pull in the top 25 teams. After that's established, they seem to haphazardly throw everything else into a big pot with little attention to details, trends, and fan preference. The regulars on this board and longtime fans of Tech football spend significantly more time contemplating the variables of our team than the elitists at ESPN.
Well, since we mailed it in and basically looked like a boatload of quit today, do we even need to go to a bowl? Can we just mail that one in now?
Our only chance in a bowl game is to play against a 6-6 or 5-7 team, and even that will be hard to win with this defense and offensive play calling.
