He said our defense was a joke and Texas Tech was the worst defensive performance he's ever been a part of. The coaches told him "that's not what we coach." He said "the staff" is going to have to look at what we are doing on defense (I think that implied... him). He said too many Texas Tech players were open with no one within 20 yards of them. "Embarrassment." But then about 4 weeks later he joked that he was getting emails after Texas Tech to fire the defensive coaches (and look at us now). I guess he forgot how embarrassing that was.
PD continues to harp on Holtz saying he is in charge of the defense. Do you not think he was taking the bullet for one of his assistants and not throwing him under the bus? That's what good leaders do. They praise their subordinates when they do something well and shield them publicly when things are going bad. I don't think that Holtz is the greatest coach in college football (he's done a whole lot better than I expected), but I do thing he does a lot of little things well and seems like he'd be a solid guy to work for.

Never said COYHCSH was not. I'm sold on him for our program. I explained in another post saying my posts are directed at those whose solution is to simply fire the DC w/out passing some of the blame along to the guy who hired him and GAVE HIM A RAISE after year 1. I also listed legit excuses (lack of available talent) as to why we had a bad year.
Justin Wilcox to Cal could be official later today.
Word is Dykes is going to TCU in an undefined role. Also, TCU co-offensive coordinator resigned recently to become OC at Kansas. This could very easily be Sonny's new role.
They don't play much d in the big 12.
He will be fine. The demotion should teach him to choose more carefully next time.
The article doesn't mention this, but Sonny D. was WR coach for Texas Tech while Sonny C. was QB there.
