Good read, except that LA Tech's 2012 team averaged over 53 points a game, not 35. Maybe the author just accidentally transposed the numbers?
It made a lot of sense in 2012: a 3-9 Cal with talent and APR deficiencies hired Louisiana Tech’s Sonny Dykes, then (and now) an air raid tactician whose LT offense was averaging over 35 points a game.
While I agree that we also averaged over 53 points a game, the author was not wrong to say we averaged over 35 points a game as well. 54>53 & 54>35. Though I see your point, the author did not advertise the great offense we had by only highlighting greater than 35 points per game. HBTD
Not really adding anything to the conversation, but Sonny Dykes is the ONLY PERSON IN EXISTENCE who sees Lubbock, Texas as a career destination.
Look for Sonny to possibly head to Arizona State as their OC
''Don't be a bad dagh..."
ASU said today that they will not hire Dykes as OC. They say he is staying at TCU because of "family issues." I don't know if there actually is a family issue keeping him in Texas, or if that was a convenient way to say that he and the head coach couldn't agree.
Has anybody thought about what will happen in April if/when they officially approve an additional assistant coach? The assistant coaching carousel will likely be crazy. Hopefully most of the Cartel will opt to promote GAs, but maybe that's wishful thinking.
