Bowls are all about tourism and TV .... as long as they get audience they will stay around --- My ONLY PRO with so many Bowl games is the extra 14 (?) practice days -- bowl teams get jump start on next season--- ONLY way to make it fair is to let every team have the extra practice time ..bowl or no bowl. If you don't qualify for bowl --seniors do not practice... heck, I would rather watch a "joke" bowl game than WNBA-Golf-Tennis- etc. The Bahama Bowl 2 years ago was attended by a small game but WK and other team put on fun game.....
80 teams make bowls. 48 teams don't.
read that again
Not until last year. But now we have 4-6 ineligible teams going bowling, which has turned the bowl system into a mockery. The NCAA/FBA needs to pass a rule that says that bowl ineligible teams cannot play in bowl games, period. No waivers or APR. Bowls that are unable to be filled with eligible teams should not be played IMO.
I wonder why they changed it to APR for 5-7 teams. If the point of a bowl game is money for the city/bowl/tv, you would think they would let the market dictate who can provide the most money. North Texas or Notre Dame?
The various best-known websites are all over the place on where we might go.... I have seen Boca, Hawaii, New Orleans, Dallas. .... Do the teams in the conference championship get to pick their destination (in order of who wins and loses title game)?
