As Service Members, we must embody the values and ideals of the Nation. We support and defend the Constitution. Any act to disrupt the Constitutional process is not only against our traditions, values, and oath; it is against the law.“
If there was still any doubt, the US military is calling it sedition and an insurrection.

Those are crimes too. Just not sedition. This was a failed overthrow of the government that was planned across Twitter, Parler, Gab and other messaging platforms. This was an attack on the Constitution specifically.
Not crimes according to the throngs of people who have not suffered a consequence. They revolt against and attack government officials. Close enough to sedition if we stop trying to split hairs that aren’t even there.
I am guessing you haven’t seen the details regarding the planning and goals of these attacks and the fact that other attacks were/are being planned. Enormous difference. Both are bad. This is next level and the consequences will be too.
I did see where the feds knew about this and didn’t plan very well.
A clearer picture of what happened inside the Capitol, Sherwin (US Attorney for DC) said, is "going to come into laser focus I think over the next weeks and days, and I think people are going to be shocked with some of the egregious contact that happened within the Capitol."
For sure, they are going to need to explain why they had more of a presence for the BLM protest in front of the White House than they had for this assault that the FBI, and other sources (ADL and some media) believed was going to happen.
Some of the talk was open on social media. I wonder if people just thought it was so crazy to do that it must be puffing and not real. Mind blowing that the Capitol was so inadequately protected. Heads will roll for that.
But law enforcement’s failure to take the threat seriously exposes once again a huge difference in how law enforcement views threats posed by a predominantly white crowd carrying American and Trump flags and the threat by black crowds.

They were mistaken to think that anyone on any side is not capable of violence. That doesn’t mean their focus on a historically violent group has been misguided. BLM and Antifa should be in worse trouble than they are.
