Thursday upsets (I don't consider a 9 over 8 an upset - 10 over 7 really isn't either, but I'll list them)
(12) Murray State over (5) Marquette
(10) Florida over (7) Nevada
(10) Minnesota over (7) Louisville
(10) Iowa over (7) Cincinnati
Great win for Liberty over MissState.
Good old Memorial Gym
Still can't believe the stupidity of the Belmont coach. Looked like he was coaching in the 1960s.
First, he had his team hold the ball down 1 instead of attacking with 10-12 seconds left. They turn the ball over without getting close to a shot and had to foul with barely 2 seconds left.
Then, after Maryland makes the first FT to put Belmont down 2, he takes his last timeout before the second FT. A Maryland miss and time ran out before Belmont could get a decent shot. That last timeout had to be saved to either use after a missed FT or to try to advance the ball on the inbounds pass to near midcourt before taking it.
#7 seed Wofford (30-5) just lost to #2 seed Kentucky (29-6) by 6. Two days after setting the NCAA Division I record for All-Time career 3-pointers, Woffords Fletcher Magee stunningly went 0 of 12 beyond the arc. Sounds like LA Tech kind of luck to me.
Live by the sword, die by the sword.
Speaking of 3's, Morant of Murray State is off and racing vs. FSU.
I had Wofford as my SS Cinderella. That close! Got the Tech bug somehow.
I didn't really care who won, but if anybody says Michigan was not favored by the NCAA nazis they are being naive or dishonest. Michigan's version of Magic Johnson was allowed at least three steps on every layup. He can shoot, but not great to the boards without help from the zebras.
UCF got robbed. Plain and simple.
