Maybe with a new GM and HC, things will be different. As long as someone can get the ball to Trent, I think he will be fine. Depending on the O-Line, the QB (whoever it might be) might have to make quick passes. Overall, I am optimistic about his chances in SF. With his personality, he could become a fan favorite.

The coverage has been appropriate as befits the NFL draft of two "locals" in the third round. FBS vs FCS is inconsequential.
While I agree with you 100%, when you throw in the fact that Chad Williams is the first player drafted from Grambling in 11 years, it makes the story even more amazing. I know we have folks on this board who only care about Louisiana Tech, and that's OK. That's their right. And while I care about Louisiana Tech more than any other college, I also think a good story is a good story. There are some amazing stories every year that come out of the NFL Draft. Chad Williams is a pretty cool story. He wasn't even invited to the NFL Combine, but he was picked in the third round.

After seeing a statement on CSNBBS, it seems there is some discrepancy between the NFL.com's numbers and Wikipedia's numbers. However, even counting the numbers without the three duplicate names of Paul Hynes (1961-AFL/NFL), JR Williamson (1964-AFL/NFL), and Jim Boudreaux (1966-AFL/NFL), I still count 73 names on the Wikipedia site, 72 by removing Jessie Clark. On the NFL site, I only count 59, 58 without including Clark.

NFL.com has all of the AFL picks which sportsdawg listed, so the discrepancies (i.e. additions) of Wikipedia over the NFL are as follows:

    1. Chuck Newman 1948 (Rd17, 148 overall, WashDC Redskins)
    2. Jim Lum 1954 (Rd19, 222, Chicago Bears)
    3. Gordy Brown 1955 (Rd14, 158, Chicago Cardinals)
    4. Pat Hinton 1957 (Rd15, 172, Green Bay Packers)
    5. Tom Hinton 1958 (Rd12, 135, Chicago Cardinals)
    6. Bob Hudson 1960 (Rd17, 195, Detroit Lions-NFL)
    7. Tom Causey 1961 (Rd13, 99, Buffalo Bills-AFL)
    8. Joe Hinton 1961 (Rd13, 104, Houston Oilers-AFL)
    9. Jerry Griffin 1963 (Rd17, 134, Houston Oilers-AFL)
    10. Bob Malone 1965 (Rd9, 71, Boston Patriots-AFL)
    11. David Lee 1965 (Rd18, 137, Boston Patriots-AFL)
    12. Dan Irby 1966 (Rd6, 43, Boston Patriots-AFL)
    13. Billy Laird 1966, Rd15, 129, Boston Patriots-AFL)

Thus, I've corrected the sixth round numbers above to remove Dan Irby. With his removal and Jessie Clark's removal, we have 58 NFL/AFL picks as recognized by NFL.com, and 40 picks in rounds between rounds 1-7. Wikipedia's numbers as listed in Beardawg's previous post are accurate number wise from the info on that site.

I'm not sure where the 64 number (63 when removing Clark) that UNT found if he counted from the NFL site he linked, but it would be interesting to do the analysis for the number of picks in CUSA from only the 1-7 rounds.

Anyone have an idea why these 13 alumni would not be included on NFL.com? Wikipedia has at least one (Bob Hudson @#6) on an NFL team.

Does the NFL site include those drafted by AFL teams prior to the merger? If not, that would explain some.
