''Don't be a bad dagh..."
I watched that game and ODU looked REALLY good! I was sort of hoping Charlotte would win that one and lose Thursday night against WKU. I wouldn't mind being tied with Charlotte for 3rd place, because we have the tie-breaker. ODU has the tie breaker on us, though.
Here are the current standings with the cluster at 3rd place right now. I count anyone with 5 losses as tied for third. Charlotte and ODU have one more game to play than us, but are basically tied with us:
WKU 12-2 0.857 20-6 0.769 Middle Tennessee 12-3 0.800 17-9 0.654 Southern Miss
10-5 0.667 18-9 0.667 Louisiana Tech 10-5 0.667 15-11 0.577 Charlotte 9-5 0.643 17-8 0.680 Old Dominion 9-5 0.643 14-11 0.560 North Texas 8-6 0.571 11-14 0.440 Rice 7-7 0.500 16-9 0.640 UTSA 7-7 0.500 11-14 0.440 UAB 6-9 0.400 13-13 0.500 Marshall 4-10 0.286 12-13 0.480 UTEP 3-11 0.214 6-20 0.231 FIU 3-11 0.214 5-20 0.200
ODU and Charlotte both still have to play at WKU. IF we win out, we need WKU to sweep them. Most importantly, we need WKU to beat ODU, though. It wouldn't hurt for Southern Miss to get beat before we get there by either Rice or North Texas. They have the same schedule we have.
Any way you look at it, ODU is going to be REALLY tough in the tournament. It would help for them to finish 5th and have to play an extra game.
We have North Texas, Rice, and Southern Miss left. We are going to have to fight for our lives to end up in the top 4.
The standings should start to become very interesting after Thursday. Every game means something for every team now.
How did North Texas and Rice end up with 4 road games in a row? This will hopefully help us some on Thursday and Saturday.
North Texas schedule:
@UTEP 2/16
@UTSA 2/18
@Louisiana Tech 2/23
@Southern Miss 2/25
They did pull out wins at UTEP and UTSA.
Rice Schedule:
@UTSA 2/16
@UTEP 2/18
@Southern Miss 2/23
@Louisiana Tech 2/25
They, also, beat UTSA and UTEP.
Interesting week ahead! If we pull out wins at home this week, it sets up a HUGE showdown with Southern Miss.....
We could finish as high as 3 and as low as 7th depending on how we do. Need to get these last three wins. North Texas, Rice, and Southern Miss are all playing well right now.
North Texas is on a 5 game win streak.
Rice is on a 4 game win streak and have won 5 of their last 6.
Southern Miss is on a 5 game win streak and have won 7 of their last 8.
Tech is on a 5 game win streak and has won 8 of our last 10. Those two losses were against WKU and MTSU (the #1 and#2 teams in the standings).

20 wins.
I still want 20 wins this season.
This team is starting to jell. Of course, this must come as a shock to those few who think Coach Brooke sucks and has ulterior motives for her decisions. Yeah, she is, after all, just a "hired gun."
For the rest of us who do KNOW what we're talking about, we have a great coach at the helm now.
Should be able to make it and I hope it is more. Rice will be tough. We beat them in OT at their place. If we can get that win and beat Southern Miss at their place, we will head into the tournament with a 3 seed and 18 wins.
No matter what happens, though, this team is vastly improved. It is night and day from the last 5 years. Brooke has come in and made them a team.
