Most want a pie in the sky schedule -
I just want a good decent schedule that leaves us in the neighborhood of 135-175 OOC SOS, we can't help our conference SOS

Someone posted this on the CUSA board this week. It says LA Tech has the best mens BB record and the 2nd best football record against CUSA teams since 2014:
I ran the stats a few weeks ago, but here are updated numbers that should be pretty accurate. This is since the 3.0 CUSA was technically "fully formed" for the most part with the current teams I think or overall close to it. Basically the past 3 years:
College Football standings last 3 years 2014-2016):
WKU: 31-10 (19-5)
La. Tech: 27-15 (19-5)
Marshall 26-13 (15-9)
MTSU: 21-17 (16-8)
ODU: 21-16 (14-10)
USM: 19-20 (12-12)
UTSA: 13-24 (11-13)
Rice: 16-21 (10-14)
UTEP: 16-22 (10-14)
FIU: 13-23 (10-14)
UNT: 10-27 (6-18)
FAU: 9-27 (7-17)

UAB 61-34 (36-13)

UNT 33-54 (16-32)
USM 24-59 (13-36)
FAU 25-60 (11-37)
Numbers may be a little off on MBB as I just updated them from the past few weeks of play. As you can see the Texas and Florida schools have struggled pretty badly since CUSA 3.0 was sort of fully formed. 5 of bottom 7 in MBB (UTEP only exception) and 6 of bottom 7 (if you include Charlotte) in CFB
Not really. At least not in football. Because unlike most teams in the west --and even some teams in the east-- LA Tech has had to play the best teams (WKU, MTSU, etc...) in the east. Even ODU doesn't do that. For example, this year ODU didn't even have MTSU on its schedule.
I, along with everybody else, hate our OOC home schedule. I have always wondered if Ruston's location had anything to do with it. Most majors and mid major teams are going to have to fly into Dallas, catch a connection to Shreveport, and charter a bus an hour to Ruston.
Objectively, if I was an AD of an opposing program that had my pick of away games, this would not be my first choice. I would like to compare Techs home schedule to another "mid-major" that has comparable location issues.
I kinda think you answered your own question. WBB and softball are practically write offs for most programs. AD's are under more pressure to maximize profits for MBB and football. Spending the extra money and time for a Louisiana Tech away game may not make sense. I just wonder if there is a way to entice teams to travel here, 2 for 1 kind of deal?
Sounds like Tech Aviation needs to spearhead expanding the airport lol jk
Many of our MBB gurus have explained why over the years. Our MBB budget is way too low. We can't afford to schedule home and home games with the likes of those mentioned above by FIM. We are forced to play money games for our own revenue. The coach/team needs a few home game tuneups before conference so we are left with very little money or scheduling room for the two home/two away games mentioned each year. We also waste spots/money playing some of the in state teams.
It has NOTHING to do with our location. That's been a well used excuse for many years by our admin, but it is VERY weak.
