I think they have to wait for the next collective bargining agreement.
Like most I was raised that drugs were bad. That hasn't changed for me, but I just don't put weed in that same catergory anymore. Much better for you than cigaretts. I don't do either, but I no longer care if you do.
NFL players do a lot of bad things (most of them involve stupid investments). Weed gives no competitive advantage.
I'm not saying they don't have a right to require their players to ovarian, but Dixonfor6 has a valid point that their harshness toward weed and leniency with other issues (domestic abuse and actual PEDs) makes them look like they are pandering at best and hypocritics at worst.
They are hardly lenient toward domestic abuse. Every time one of their guys gets caught doing it they all get punished by doing public service announcements telling us (the fans) to not engage in domestic abuse.
One of the many reasons the NFL is dead to me. I quit watching entirely, but I do check box scores to see how our Tech alumni have done.
The NFL must be paying attention to the surveys that show many Americans have turned away due to their allowing Kaepernick and company to disrespect the US. How many more Americans could turn away if the NFL chooses to support the wrong side on the drug use issue?
I may be glad when they legalize weed. Just think about how much more valuable a clean mind will be when half the countries workers show up under the influence.
It will further separate the sharp tools from the dull tools. That's about the best way I can put it.
I don't cared what you do as long as it doesn't affect me. BUT DONT CRY WHEN I DONT HIRE YOU!
Oh, and Dixon. You need to make some changes.
EXACTLY
I'm always confused when an applicant takes and fails to pass a pre-employment drug test. They're obviously less intelligent than the typical illegal drug-using applicant who just never shows up at the lab. They do however get the last laugh when I have to pay for their failed test.
Disappointed in Dixon. I thought he had a better head on his shoulders
Got a sneaking suspicion it's not weed...
That said what you do recreationally is your choice, but you still have to pass the test to maintain your right to employment, our handbook says one strike and your out, no exceptions regardless of the substance
A job is a privilege not a right...
''Don't be a bad dagh..."
The next agreement is in 2021, and it's certain to be an issue. The choice for many NFL players is to use pot or run the risk of becoming addicted to opiates. I suspect the NFL will, at some point in the near future, simply stop testing for it.
