No. It was consideration for the NDA that Trump wanted. It isn’t extortion without a threat. Dershowitz just presumed there was a threat in the hypothetical that Tucker proposed. There is no reason to believe that happened - particularly given the fact that Stormy sued to get out of the deal.

And such a scenario would be consistent with Trump’s (and his cohorts) past practice with burying these kind of stories. Remember McDougal was trying to publish her story of the affair but the Enquirer bought the publishing rights in what is known as a “catch and kill”.

What generally happens in these cases is that once a journalist becomes aware of a story, they ask the other party for comment to verify the account. At that time, Trump would know the story is coming out and might try to do an NDA with the person so that they pull their story back and with no other corroboration the journalist is very unlikely to publish it. That scenario very well could have happened with Stormy and that would not be extortion.

Well, we'll see. I broke one of my cardinal rules and bought a Ford. My wife liked a Ford Expedition EL we rented last year, from Enterprise, when we took our grandkids to Disney, and we needed a big vehicle. So, when she saw a deal...a brand new one at a very good price, I bought it for her. So far....about 10 months now, we've had no problems with it. But.....

I agree with Newt....but then I almost always agree with Newt!... publish without a single redaction the tapes, or the manuscripts of the tapes, all 70 hours of it. That includes everything Mueller and his team of criminal thugs have done, not just the Flynn setup.
