Yea, I am afraid that has became part of the equation when coaches are picking who they want to look at, many never get a look and because of that stereotype. Someone is going to pick this guy up, he would be a really good pickup academically for anyone but especially some of the private Universities.
Hopefully he will come to Tech, but I expect he will choose Army or Navy, if offered and I believe he will be.
Gullatt has offers from Army, Navy, LA Tech, Northwestern St, Nicholls St, Harvard, Cornell, and Dartmouth.

What does the kid want to major in? That could play a major role in his decision.
Engineering is big at the service academies so that won't get us there for sure.
He is a rare find, looks like he has the intelligence and education to get a full ride most anywhere without football, the addition of his football talents makes recruiting him a no-brainer in my book.
Our only advantage I can think of is that he gets to stay close to home if he were to attend TECH

I asked a question because I don't know if we actually have offered a scholarship or a preferred walk on. There is a huge difference. Why? No twitter talk about the offer. Isn't that the indicator for what's actually happening?
Unless you are a Louisiana Tech football coach, nobody knows for certain if his offer is an immediate scholarship or a 1-year walkon with a scholarship for the remainder of his college education. He definitely has an offer though.
You think the player knows? Players normally let people know what the offer actually is.
FWIW, a preferred walk on is a "guaranteed" roster spot w/no scholarship in year one. We do it often with "slow" guys who make good grades.
If I am reading that correctly, it is an offer he has no interest in.
I don't have any inside info but I'd imagine he could come to Tech for 4 years without paying a penny based on his academic prowess alone. He's got some really impressive institutions vying for him. I don't think it's a issue of athleticism though.
