WOW, that is really awesome. With our new coach its a building process. This is a great step in the first year. Get em Techsters.
Middle Tennessee and Southern Miss also in for C-USA. 4 women's teams in the postseason compared to just 2 men's (yes, I know the WNIT is twice the size of the NIT).
Excited so see the progress we've made in just one year with Stoehr. The future is bright!
I am glad for our Techsters that they can continue to play. But, why more womens teams in NIT then Mens NIT. So more people attended womens college basketball games to justify a bigger field? Our mens program deserved better. First time since 2012 not in a post season situation? One source said mens program turned down pay to play tournaments?
All I know is the WNIT is not run by the NCAA like the NIT is. It's run by "Triple Crown Sports." It expanded to 64 teams in 2010. Best available team from each conference (based on conference record) gets an autobid (32 teams). Remaining 32 slots are filled by at-larges. MTSU got our autobid, so us and USM were at-larges.
I see the WNIT is a pay to play, but it is not as expensive as the CBI and CIT on the men's side. http://www.womensnit.com/event-info1.html
- Everyone wants home games, and the WNIT makes hosting affordable for all teams. Teams can host in the first round for a guarantee of $6,500 a game. They can host in the second round for $7,500 a game.
- The WNIT helps offset those costs and assumes all risk for high-cost travel. Teams pay no more than $12,000 combined for all of their road games in the Postseason WNIT. This allows teams to budget for their postseason play and doesn’t penalize them for winning.
A new article has been posted on www.latechsports.com:
For only the second time in program history, Louisiana Tech will play in the postseason Women’s National Invitation Tournament as part of the 64-team field released Monday night.

Discuss it here.
Basically 1/6th of the cost as the CIT or CBI on the men's side...
''Don't be a bad dagh..."
But I'm glad They made it...
Really like our staff
''Don't be a bad dagh..."
And they are young enough and coached enough for it to make a difference in the future.
I don't know if Charlotte turned down an invite or not but this is a big deal for our team. This is another stepping stone on our journey back to where we belong.
Where's champ110? Does he not know yet? Or is he celebrating...
I am here........ VERY excited for our young team and Brooke! This is great news!!!!!!!!!!!!! I shut things down right after I found out for sure. Seems that Brooke must have known something by the way she talked in the locker room. Awesome first year here under her!!!!!!!!!
