And Lafayette, which means Tulane doesn't see either ULM or ULL as a threat, but they do see Tech as a threat.

The funny thing is that Tulane did vote for us to join C-USA because they'd rather associate with Tech than their other options, but they want nothing to do with us on the field or court.

Why don't we play ULM, ULL, and Tulane? Yes, I know we played ULL H&H in 14-15 and Tulane in C-USA play in 13, but otherwise we don't.

I've heard various reasons before, but I'd like to hear what you all have to say. It seems like we could have strong crowds for home games against them and get a decent group to travel to them, and I think our students would be much more excited about playing these schools than UMass or South Alabama.

The attendance gain from a ULM game is an illusion. No Injun fans will show. We have history that proves this.

But as noted, if we played the first game at ULM they might have a decent turn out. If the first game were played in Ruston there might be some ULM fans, but if we put a beat down on them the only attendees at a second game in Monroe would be Tech fans. If we trounced them in Monroe for a first game there would be absolutely no ULM fans for a second game in Ruston. Therefore there is no reason to play them.

Besides, we are better than all of them (nlu, usl, Tulane) in athletics and moving closer to Tulane in academics than many might think. I believe we play lsusless in 2018. We will see if we can win the second half as well as the first then. What we really need is to win the war on publicity. TECH has accomplished much in athletics and academics particularly in the last few years but gets no acclaim for those accomplishments. I think we are in the middle where the "top" gets all the praise because that is what is popular and the lower turns their noses up because we are moving ahead. We are a threat to everyone else and therefore have no friends. It is a difficult position that will only be remedied by superior performance that can't be ignored and that does not mean playing inferior teams where they may claim even a moral victory.

I could argue it either way.

But if we're gonna have 1-1s with MAC / Belt teams ... why not beat the crap outta northeast?

I won't pay to watch us play NLULM anywhere. Actually, I won't watch us play them for free either. I am done with them. The damage done losing to them would be worse than the damage done by the NSU loss, and there are still people that haven't gotten over or come back because of that one.

Someone give me an example of this, not anecdotal. Lots of great football has been played by our Dawgs since that fiasco. I would say folks 'who haven't gotten over it and haven't come back' most likely spend their Saturdays wearing purple and piss colored clothing.

My wife's uncle and his family. Farmerville residents. Prefer hunting / fishing / church to any team sports. We begged them to come to just one Tech game. We promised a fun, family atmosphere and exciting football. They chose the NWSt game because it was a team they'd heard of.

When it was all over, Uncle Pinky shuffled out of the stadium muttering "same old Tech".

It's anecdotal, but I've got a few family members and a friend who have declined every invite to come back since. My friend gave Tech a second chance after I brought him to the Tulane debacle, but the NWST embarrassment happened on Tech's second chance.

After that game, Tech reported ridiculously fake attendance numbers for the rest of the 2014 season when we won our first C-USA division title in front of some really small crowds. The next season we opened with Southern and ULL. Southern brought about 8K. There weren't 27K Tech fans there like our AD would have you believe. Then we had a tremendous student turnout for ULL along with about 2.5K Leopards. Then attendance was pretty much downhill the rest of the year, mostly due to rain the last 3 games. Then we opened with another rain game vs. a MEAC team that didn't kickoff until after 10 PM. Then it was a home game vs. UTEP coming off a 1-3 start. Then we played on Thursday night with a large student turnout, but paid attendance was terrible mainly due to Thursday night.

So Uncle Pinky you would label a non-sports fan, non-Tech fan?

So non-Tech fans? Still looking for a documented case of at Tech fan who has given up on the team after a bad game.
