B3- Rice takes a 1-0 lead on an RBI single.

T4- Tech hits into another double play, no runs.
B4- Rice has runners on the corners with two out. Ground out ends the inning. Dawgs still trail 0-1.

Middle 5th- Tech is still scoreless.
B5- Rice gets another run to lead 2-0.

(Update Game 1 of 2- In Birmingham headed to the B6 Lady Techsters lead UAB 4-0. Tech got an insurance run in the 7th to win 5-0. Gallaway earned the complete game shutout for Tech.)

I watched/listened to the Rice broadcast last night. It sounded like a good-sized Tech crowd last night as well (or at least a vocal one). No video today so I am listening to Nitz.

Disagree. I thought the safety squeeze call was stupid. Not with Ullrich, our hottest hitter at the plate. We were down 1 as the road team with a thin pitching staff to be kind, and there was a force at the plate. He ended up fouling off a bunt attempt on a fastball, likely the best pitch he saw in that at bat. Then he struck out on a breaking ball on the very next pitch. Safety squeeze didn't make any sense in that situation.

T8- Gladu with the leadoff single up the middle. Ullrich sac bunts Gladu to 2nd. Jon Washam strikes out swinging. Daigle strikes out to strand Gladu.

Seems like HCLB is making good calls with the timely bunts, especially the one with one out and Skelton on first. Put Tech's best hitter at the plate with Skelton on second and two outs. Diaz had been 0-fer the series until his timely hit. Gutsy call.
