Thrilled @jalanwest12 received a 7th-year @NCAA waiver to play his senior year in 2017-18! Amazing stats a fraction of his contributions!

SMU had a QB back in the day (Ramon Flanagan) who got a 6th, maybe a 7th season after multiple medical redshirts. He left with more degrees than a summer day in Cancun.
They have another QB this year getting his 6th year due to injuries.
Case Keenum at Houston had 6 years
I remember a few 6th year guys. Quidar Davis will be a 6th yrear player.
But I don't remember anybody else who got a 7th year.

Richie Casey and Andrew Guillot, and, Jeremy Graffree got a 6th year for us in 2013. Seems like we've had others that were granted 6 and some who were not.

What? Why? Is he trying to earn a PhD?
It seems he'd be much better off playing somewhere professionally for a living while he still can instead of wasting another year of his clock playing for free. NWST is doing this man a disservice, that is unless he somehow still hasn't earned his bachelor's degree in 6 years.
I've never heard of anyone getting a 7th year (except maybe former WKU QB Brandon Doughty. )
Is there a link to this story?
Jalen West is legit good. If he can stay healthy, that is. No question about his talent, his ability to play. He's as good a guard as there is in the nation.
Goes to show you how inexact recruiting is. Could have played anywhere: North Carolina, Duke, Kentucky, Kansas...you name it.
I am hearing his 7th year isn't confirmed yet. There's another step or something. I dunno. But, to answer why he'd play at NSU one more year, maybe he's been told the NBA is wary of his injuries. Of his history of getting injured, and there is no interest. An injury-free, great season in college this year might be what he needs to draw that NBA interest. I think he had a knee injury and needs to show he has fully recovered. I will talk to Opie, or assistant coach Jeff Moore, when I get a chance.
As for West. He can play.
