I am planning my football trips for next fall. I am planing on making to the trip to Ruston in October to watch the Eagles and Dogs. I am trying to decide whether I am going to the ULM game in Monroe on Sept 16. It is a good weekend for me to go to a game and it is a short trip. Thought I would get an opinion from you guys. Is the game atmosphere good? How are the tailgating opportunities for opposing fans? Are adult beverages allowed at tailgating? Thanks...

There's a great Tai place in Monroe. Rawz...check it out if you make the trip.
If you sit on the east side, It's horrible (creaky metal grandstand). Regarding having beer and alcohol, go ahead and drink away. I've never had any issues at any campus except for Ole Miss (they prefer folks to put it in a cup).
The stadium atmosphere is pretty dead.
about the end of the 1st quarter, with SoMiss being up by 3 touchdowns, its gonna be real dead except for the group from mississippi

Not sure, it's a rather small one floor facility.

If it is a good weekend/ short trip I say go for it. Game atmosphere will be pretty dead usually although they may get up for you guys. Can't speak to tailgating, but adult beverages should be ok as long as you are not making a scene.
They have "the grove" for tailgating, don't they? On a real good weekend, you might catch 30 Warchicken people out there for a game.
Thanks for the replies. I will probably wait and see what the kickoff time is before I decide. It is only a 2 1/2 hr drive for me, so not a long trip. I do expect a nice crowd of USM fans. I will say I hope this is our one and only game there. If USM fans are traveling to North Louisiana for a football game, it needs to be to your house.
GO!! when you are die hard fan ( which most of us know you are) -you go to any reachable game, I have gone to way to many games that we got crushed over last 50 plus years and enjoy watching us crush occasionally. unless you can think of somewhere else better to be-do not miss it. for me, being at a Tech game is hard to beat-- get a chance to watch the second team if things go the way it should
If you enjoy watching LSU football, talking LSU football, or just being around LSU fans, NLULM is an awesome pregame atmosphere.
You guys could very well outnumber them from the start lol, seriously you will outnumber them by half-time though.
Dude go! Such a short trip. I went to a ULM/Baylor game and while it was a war hawk game the atmosphere was solid. Of course they were up to play a big 12 school.
