It's disappointing an APR "bonus" wasn't built into Skip's new contract -

10% of base for 950+ annually
5% for top score in State annually
5% for top score in Conference annually

That's an additional $140k if he hits the trifecta

It should be built into all 5 "big" sports and in the remaining sports in some way

What is the 5th "big" sport? We only charge admission to 4.

WBB is in the clear now. Spoon's last APR will drop off the rolling average next year.

Summitt saved the Lady Techsters from the embarrassment of APR penalties by posting a perfect 1000 score to counter Spoon's APR disaster.

He needs to get off his ass and start demanding more from his players when it comes to academics, period.
It doesn't embarrass me. Tech is a much tougher school than Grambling, Double-Directional-Hyphenated Louisiana, and everyone else in C-USA except for Rice. We aren't giving fake degrees like UNC or cheating like ULL. And we are recruiting better athletes. APR only matters if you fall below 930 on a 4-year rolling average. I believe Tech has the best football conference record in C-USA over the last 3-4 years. Just win baby! (and avoid APR penalties)

BTW Tech took a hit during the Dykes-Holtz coaching transition. Holtz likely posted one of Tech football's best single-season APRs this past year (975) and should be commended.

Our only sport of concern right now regarding APR is MBB.

Good to know, before this thread I was not aware that only sport specific scholarship players contributed

The APR is calculated as follows:
    • Each student-athlete receiving athletically related financial aid earns one point for staying in school and one point for being academically eligible.
    • A team’s total points are divided by points possible and then multiplied by 1,000 to equal the team’s Academic Progress Rate.
    • In addition to a team’s current-year APR, its rolling four-year APR is also used to determine accountability.
In 2015-16 and beyond, teams must earn a four-year APR of 930 to compete in championships.
So basically all players must stay in school and have above required GPA. Does this impact outgoing transfers? Do they have to stay for all three quarters?

    Thanks for the confirmation

Football always has a scholarship limit hit, even if the player is receiving TOPs and paying the balance on his own.
